Ikenotaira Onsen, Myoko
Situated in Myoko, 31 km from Zenkoji Temple and 33 km from Nagano Station, Pension Moomin Papa features accommodation with free WiFi, air conditioning, a garden and a shared lounge. The accommodation has a spa bath. Pension Moomin Papa is a very cute and cosy home from home. It was very warm with lovely underfloor heating, clean and tidy. You can order home cooked breakfast and dinner. The other travellers were nice and friendly. I loved my stay here!

The beds were very comfortable with high quality linen. The villa is close to Lotte Arai resort (about 5 minute drive) and the managers of the villa were extremely helpful in arranging transport for our group with a neighbour, who was charming and helpful. The manager also arranged dinner for us at a local restaurant which usually only offers lunch and this was a very special experience for us. The drying room was excellent for our ski gear. From the house are views of the surrounding rice fields and up to the mountains.

Matt also does snow clearing on massive days so takes the stress of digging the car out!

This property offers access to a balcony, free private parking and free WiFi. The property is non-smoking and is situated 46 km from Suzaka City Zoo. Great chalet in a fantastic location. We had two families with 3 kids and i really cant fault our stay. The entire chalet is much bigger than expected, the kitchen and living areas are really functional, perfect after a long day on the mountain to relax with amazing views of the surrounding valley. There is a huge drying room for ski gear and ample storage throughout. On arrival we met the host who gave us a rundown on the chalet, Akakura town and surrounding areas. We rented a car from Nagano which I highly recommend as its easier to drive into the center of town with ski gear plus there are plenty of other good mountains in the area.

This place is amazing! The room was super clean, warm, and the bed was really comfortable. Good reliable WiFi throughout the lodge, and if you're a skier or snowboarder the drying room downstairs is perfect for storing your gear. The location is lovely and scenic but only a short drive to plenty of places to eat, the train station, and the various snow resorts; transfers to the resorts were easy to organise, and a few of the closer ones are offered free of charge (the further ones cost but are very reasonable). The traditional bath they have available is also incredible for a soak after a big day on the mountain! Chereyne and Brett are fantastic hosts with a wealth of knowledge about the area, very welcoming and happy to help with things like train station pickups, making local dinner reservations, making resort recommendations etc. They were also super accommodating of my dietary requirements (vegan) for all meals we ate at the lodge - amazing cooked breakfasts with continental options available too, and beautiful traditional barbeque dinners (they alternate with more western style meals and it's up to you which you want to eat in/out for). Myoko is a beautiful spot with some amazing snow to be enjoyed and it's super accessible from Tokyo, would absolutely recommend this place and hope we get the opportunity to come back!

I stayed at the hotel for the Fuji Rock Festival. Their location is just a few minutes' walk from Echigo Yuzawa, where you arrive from Tokyo and get on the shuttle for the festival to Naeba. The room is beautiful and very spacious, also super clean. There was free coffee, tea, and even free Yakult and ramen at certain hours. The hotel also had an onsen, which I was not able to take advantage of for this trip. Will definitely book here again if I'm heading back to the festival in the next years, even with the price.
Great hotel right on the ski slope. An older style hotel and a little empty, but it was lovely nonetheless. We will happily be returning here next year. Large outdoor onsen and great breakfast every morning. I the staff were very friendly and shuttle was always able to take us into town. Our room was enormous by Japanese standards and view of the beginners ski run was great.
You're as close to the ski slopes as humanly possible. Plenty of food options to choose from, all of which can be reached indoors. You can also rent your skis from within the hotel and have a locker right there to leave them at the end of the day. You can also buy your ski ticket right next to the locker room, again indoors. There are also a couple of convenience stores within the complex. Free shuttle to the train station is also helpful.
The view around the hotel is very good. In front of the hotel there is a shuttle bus service to various ski slopes. It was snowing heavily. The hotel helped guide me on parking because I had small children and an elderly person.
Experienced traditional Japanese hotel just few steps away from Echigo Yuzawa train station. 7-11 just across the road. Used free shuttle to go to station. Snow hill just behind the hotel. Room is super spacious.
Lotte Arai is one of the best snow locations in Japan. The Shinkansen from Tokyo stops close by and the bus shuttle is fine. The restaurants Onsen and Facilities are first class. The snow is superb. Will try to return next year.
The place had a great atmosphere and the food was prepared superbly. The hotel was nice enough to accommodate my wife’s vegetarian diet. The place is moments away from ski resorts and are happy to provide rental gear and shuttle trips to the resorts. The rooms are spacious and very nicely decorated. Perfect place for the price they are charging.

Owner and his wife were incredibly hospitable. Able to provide shuttle to other resorts at reasonable prices. Breakfast each morning was delicious with a different menu each day. Owner was able to provide great restaurant recommendations and book for us.
