Classic charming pension with the most friendly owners! The private onsen across the street is incredible, I had it to myself every night, and there is an option for breakfast. The room was perfect for two of us, and Papa was so kind to drive us to and from the Myokokogen station and the mountains, and also on some errands which was so kind. It feels like you are stepping into a place that can’t be created, a piece of personality.

Worked perfectly for our ski trip to Lotte Arai Ski resort. It's only a 5 min drive to the resort which made getting to the slopes a breeze.
The house and rooms get toasty and warm with the heaters turned on and the bathroom and showers were nice and new.
The futons/mattresses were very comfortable and the comforters were very warm.
The garage is nice as well to have a snow free place to park.
If visiting in the winter and you don't have a 4WD or snowtires make sure you bring some chains.

Preface: Have stayed at several guest houses and places with shared common areas throughout Japan.
- The lovely couple who was running the place. The wife was was very helpful, pleasant, and sweet
- The husband was very good about regular snow removal in the mornings which was necessary
- Tons of parking
- There is a private onsen/shower room in the place. We only used the women's but it was very clean.
- Location was super close to a lot of ski resorts, though not walking distance to town. Note: HIGHLY RECOMMEND 4WD if coming during winter. We had 2WD w/ winter tires and almost didn't make it back a couple times, despite being fine with this set up on previous winter trips to Myoko.
- Heard great things about the breakfast but did not try it due to time in the morning.

The staff provided a free shuttle service to and from the nearest train station, which was very nice. They also explained how to navigate the local area by bus. The onsen and breakfast service were both great as well.
Lotte Arai is one of the best snow locations in Japan. The Shinkansen from Tokyo stops close by and the bus shuttle is fine.
The restaurants Onsen and Facilities are first class. The snow is superb. Will try to return next year.
Situated 5 mins from the main street of Akakura Daiju is great spot to base yourself out of for your stay in myoko. Huge brekkie, great little in-house onsen style bath and shuttles to Mount Myoko resorts. Twin rooms are massive.
Comfortable, well taken care of by Pete and Jen. We were provided shuttles, recommendations around the area, and discounted ticket offers to ski resorts where available. They were friendly and checked in with us often to ensure we were enjoying our stay.
Owner and his wife were incredibly hospitable. Able to provide shuttle to other resorts at reasonable prices. Breakfast each morning was delicious with a different menu each day. Owner was able to provide great restaurant recommendations and book for us.

2. Location was great, 200m to ski lift for suginohara, <100m to local bus ( 1/4 the price compare to ski resort shuttle bus) stop to ikenotaira (the bus stop at an onsen, then easy 7 minutes walk to ski lift). Otherwise the ski resort shuttle is 500m away, can take you to all 4 ski resort nearby
3. Can order dinner for an extra cost. I am sure anyone will leave a full stomach
