Sumatra Expedition Lodge is a recently renovated guest house in Bukit Lawang, where guests can make the most of its garden and bar. One of the best guesthouses I have ever stayed in - do yourself a favour and book this guesthouse! After a tiring long day of travel to BL I was welcomed with a refreshing complimentary drink, upgrade to my room and ordered the best Gado Gado I have ever had for dinner. The room was beautiful, clean, large and the bed was super comfortable. A highlight of the property is the beautiful scenery and serenity - situated in a quiet, peaceful area overlooking rice paddies, palm trees, mountains and if you’re lucky a volcano can be spotted in the distance on a clear day. The family who own & run this guesthouse are beautiful - made me feel completely at home, helped with anything I needed and we had some great chats overlooking the beautiful rice paddies each night. The owners shared stories of the area and broader Sumatra helping me plan my onward travel, I loved cuddling with their sweet dog Padi and playing with their little boy Osaka. The other staff were also so sweet and helpful. Even though it is a little further from the main area/where I was starting my hike, they dropped me off and picked me up, and have everything on site (food, drinks, shops nearby etc) so not an issue at all. And I much preferred because in this less touristy area that has a real local, authentic feel. I extended my stay one night after my hike and if I had time, would have stayed even longer. Will definitely be back here in the future.

With mountain views, Sumatra Orangutan Discovery Villa is situated in Bukit Lawang and has a restaurant, full-day security, bar, garden, sun terrace and picnic area. The restaurant inside the lodge was very good, the food was super tasty. Good location for starting a orangutan trekking!

Providing garden views, SeaGate Bungalows in Sabang provides accommodation, a private beach area, an open-air bath and a garden. - Watching the magnificent view of your private bay from the hammock. - Falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the waves. - The bungalow having hotel like luxuries like a mini fridge, your own drink water tank and coffee and tea supplies. - The roofless shower. But most of all: The delightful hosts who will do anything in their power to make you feel as comfortable as possible and deliver the services that you may want or need. They are genuinely good people who really care about you, the community and also the environment. Tips: - Go have dinner with them at least once. Yuyun is a really good cook. And there is a future restaurant in the making! - Ask Borja for tips what to do around the island and where to get the best coffee. - Rent a scooter from the hosts to see the island. They are safe, well-maintained and helmets available. - Rent snorkel equipment from the hosts. (One of) the most beautiful snorkeling spot(s) is right in front of you. - If you want to go diving, make sure to enquire about it with Borja and Yuyun as they are both divemasters.

Set in Tuk Tuk in the Sumatra region, Juma cottages features a garden. There is an on-site restaurant and free private parking. The units in the guest house are equipped with a kettle. We would like to thank the owner and his lovely staff for our stay at Juma cottages. The owner picked us up at the ferry pier and we were able to do some laundry, which was very handy. We loved the location on the shore of Lake Toba, the room was huge and extremely confortable with a great bed. Shower was separate from the toilet by a short wall, which is rare enough to be mentioned. The food was very good also (I will dream of the delicious guacamole taco) with a wide choice and freshly made. The garden was very well maintained just like in the picture :)

Located 9.3 km from Medan Grand Mosque, Bua Guest House offers air-conditioned accommodation with a terrace. You felt right at home, which made it even more comfortable. It’s away from the busy city of Medan and within a little bit of nature.

The staff are so kind and friendly, really made the experience great. Sarah was very communicative during the booking process too. Eli the chef is really talented, we wished we could have eaten more there!

Comfortable, clean and quiet; kind host; 15 minutes walking to centre; 40 minutes walking to Siallagan’s stone chairs; reasonable price. I do recommend this place.

A recently renovated guest house situated in Bukit Lawang, Kupu Kupu Garden Guest House & Cafe features a garden. This beachfront property offers access to a balcony. As a solo traveler traveling in low season, I expected there might be some inconveniences. however, the staffs of Kupukupu helped me to overcome all the difficulties, planning and arranging my trips well with good value. I also like the cookings from their kitchen. You need to order dinner in the morning then they can buy fresh food in the day and cook the dishes well. I tried some other restaurant with high rating in the village, unfortunately, their food are not fresh at all. I really appreciate the Kupu Kupu kitchen prepares the dishes with heart, even for one single guest.

Featuring quiet street views, Batu Kapal Guest House & Jungle trekking in Bukit Lawang offers accommodation, a garden, a terrace and a bar. The property has mountain and garden views. Price, Staff, food and accommodation was sooo nice, nature bath in the river, jungle road to place. Live in a deep nature-that’s what I really want in Bukit Lawang. Owner Bayu and his team help me with everything, I will come back brothers
