An extra special recommendation to Manuel, recommended as our guide to summit Pico, by Léa at Eco Fundo. He was knowledgeable, patient, good humored, professional, and very generously kind. We had a great stay here. Great hot shower too!

Their dynamism and their joy of life are enviable. They have managed to create a complete and efficient service (transportation, accommodation, meals and guide). You will receive a message with all the useful information and prices after your reservation. The location at the foot of the volcano is simply incredible. José built a splendid complex by his own hands with the lava from the volcano. A change of scenery, sporting and human experiences guaranteed. You can go there with your eyes closed !

Very friendly helpful people who helped me arrange my transport there and trip up the volcano (ask about these in advance) and advised me for my hike down to Mosteiros. Would recommend lunch and dinner here (not that I get the impression there are many other options here!) - food is delicious and portions are incredibly generous, you won't go hungry! Room was comfy, there's electricity and wifi, which didn't reach into my room, but I could get it just outside, or in the main eating room. There was no hot water when I was here, so shower in the day time when there's sunshine to warm up in afterwards. It gets cold at night, but the bed was lovely and warm.

Of course, the Guesthouse is not comparable to a 3Stars hotel but when you come to this kind of place, Ciza e Rose is exactly the kind of Guesthouse you expect! Rose was born here, he is the right man at the right place and his family is very nice. Rose can speak many languages, including french. The rooms are simple but have all you need. They are big, quiet and all around a patio. Board games are available and we could play Awale and learn a new way to play with Michael, the son. The breakfast was really good and a bit different each day, with cakes... We got a lot of explanations from Rose, who is also a guide if you need. Communication was really easy with them, even before arriving. A "collectivos" picked us up at the airport and Rose organized another one to drop us to Sao Filipe. We eat at the Guesthouse in the evenings. At midday, we went several times to Isabel Restaurant ( actually Isabel is Rose's sister but we didn't know it the first time!). By the way, Rose has 6 brothers/sisters at Portela.

Quiet, comfortable. Breakfast was included and I have asked for it at 6am, so the Lady just left it from the evening (coffee in a termopot). Also you can ask for a dinner, which is really good, super tasty (Ive got a fish with rice and veggies for 900 escudo). And also you can ask for some wine (industrial or craft homemade, about 200 per glass). The place has not many reviews but it's seems super new, means you will have also super new bathroom which is nice bonus for staying. As for the transfer: you can book the place in Alluger with the room booking. The way from Sao Filipi is 50-60 mins and costs 1000 escudo. As for the trekking: 1. The location is the best, right next to the start of few trekking routes 2. You can ask the owner for a guide, just ask for someone local who is actually based here in Caldeiras and not in Sao Filipe. As for the Pico Grande you will definitely need a guide because it's super tricky route. For the Pico Grande the usual price is 6000 per person but it's could be a discount if you are in group 3. Also you can walk by yourself (without guide) for couple places: e.g Pico Pequeno (it's now that far) and also you can walk to the Forest Monte Velha (about 5 kms till the entrance to the Forest) or even to Mosteiros (about 16 kms in total, 10 kms at the normal road and 6 kms are a bit difficult, inside the forest - not the easiest trail but it's possible)

The perfect place and guest to discover Chã das Caldeiras! José Doce helps in everyway!! Our flight was antecipated and José climbed the vulcano with us during the night allowing us to experience the sunrise.

Objekat Pipi's Guest House, koji se nalazi u gradu Sao Filipe, nudi besplatan WiFi, a gostima su na raspolaganju vrt, terasa i bar. Everything was just excellent: clean and well equiped room, wonderful view from the rooftop swimming pool with terras, very friendly owners that were really helpfull and the best breakfast and dinner I had in Fogo. Sao Filipe is a nice town as well. I can highly recommend this place, make sure you stay long enough to enjoy the wonderful view and spend some time in Sao Filipe as well.

Objekat Casa Ze & sonia, koji je smešten u gradu Portela, ima pogled na planinu, besplatan WiFi i besplatan privatni parking. Ze and Sonia welcomed us with infinite care. The location, right in the middle of the Caldeira is ideal. Sonia is an exceptional cook!! This is a place we will not forget. 👍
