We had a great stay here. Great hot shower too!

Featuring quiet street views, Pensão Repouso Alegre Turismo e Aventura in Portela provides accommodation, a garden and a terrace. The property has mountain and inner courtyard views. José and his family are all adorable and available. Their dynamism and their joy of life are enviable. They have managed to create a complete and efficient service (transportation, accommodation, meals and guide). You will receive a message with all the useful information and prices after your reservation. The location at the foot of the volcano is simply incredible. José built a splendid complex by his own hands with the lava from the volcano. A change of scenery, sporting and human experiences guaranteed. You can go there with your eyes closed !

Located in Portela in the Fogo region, Casa helena has a balcony. There is an on-site restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. The guest house features family rooms. Had a great stay here. Very friendly helpful people who helped me arrange my transport there and trip up the volcano (ask about these in advance) and advised me for my hike down to Mosteiros. Would recommend lunch and dinner here (not that I get the impression there are many other options here!) - food is delicious and portions are incredibly generous, you won't go hungry! Room was comfy, there's electricity and wifi, which didn't reach into my room, but I could get it just outside, or in the main eating room. There was no hot water when I was here, so shower in the day time when there's sunshine to warm up in afterwards. It gets cold at night, but the bed was lovely and warm.

Ciza e Rose is situated in Portela and offers a garden and a shared lounge. The property has mountain and city views. Of course, the Guesthouse is not comparable to a 3Stars hotel but when you come to this kind of place, Ciza e Rose is exactly the kind of Guesthouse you expect! Rose was born here, he is the right man at the right place and his family is very nice. Rose can speak many languages, including french. The rooms are simple but have all you need. They are big, quiet and all around a patio. Board games are available and we could play Awale and learn a new way to play with Michael, the son. The breakfast was really good and a bit different each day, with cakes... We got a lot of explanations from Rose, who is also a guide if you need. Communication was really easy with them, even before arriving. A "collectivos" picked us up at the airport and Rose organized another one to drop us to Sao Filipe. We eat at the Guesthouse in the evenings. At midday, we went several times to Isabel Restaurant ( actually Isabel is Rose's sister but we didn't know it the first time!). By the way, Rose has 6 brothers/sisters at Portela.

TCHAN LOVe is a recently renovated bed and breakfast in Portela, where guests can make the most of its garden and terrace. There is an in-house restaurant and free private parking. This is a very nice place to stay for couple nights. Quiet, comfortable. Breakfast was included and I have asked for it at 6am, so the Lady just left it from the evening (coffee in a termopot). Also you can ask for a dinner, which is really good, super tasty (Ive got a fish with rice and veggies for 900 escudo). And also you can ask for some wine (industrial or craft homemade, about 200 per glass). The place has not many reviews but it's seems super new, means you will have also super new bathroom which is nice bonus for staying. As for the transfer: you can book the place in Alluger with the room booking. The way from Sao Filipi is 50-60 mins and costs 1000 escudo. As for the trekking: 1. The location is the best, right next to the start of few trekking routes 2. You can ask the owner for a guide, just ask for someone local who is actually based here in Caldeiras and not in Sao Filipe. As for the Pico Grande you will definitely need a guide because it's super tricky route. For the Pico Grande the usual price is 6000 per person but it's could be a discount if you are in group 3. Also you can walk by yourself (without guide) for couple places: e.g Pico Pequeno (it's now that far) and also you can walk to the Forest Monte Velha (about 5 kms till the entrance to the Forest) or even to Mosteiros (about 16 kms in total, 10 kms at the normal road and 6 kms are a bit difficult, inside the forest - not the easiest trail but it's possible)

Situated in Portela in the Fogo region, Pensao Zé Doce has a garden. This bed and breakfast offers a bar. There is free private parking and the property features paid airport shuttle service. The perfect place and guest to discover Chã das Caldeiras! José Doce helps in everyway!! Our flight was antecipated and José climbed the vulcano with us during the night allowing us to experience the sunrise.

Pipi's Guest House, featuring a garden, a terrace and a bar, is located in São Filipe, 2.4 km from Sao Filipe Beach. At the bed and breakfast, every unit comes with a wardrobe. Everything was just excellent: clean and well equiped room, wonderful view from the rooftop swimming pool with terras, very friendly owners that were really helpfull and the best breakfast and dinner I had in Fogo. Sao Filipe is a nice town as well. I can highly recommend this place, make sure you stay long enough to enjoy the wonderful view and spend some time in Sao Filipe as well.

Casa Ze & sonia is situated in Portela. Among the facilities of this property are a restaurant, a 24-hour front desk and a minimarket, along with free WiFi throughout the property. Ze and Sonia welcomed us with infinite care. The location, right in the middle of the Caldeira is ideal. Sonia is an exceptional cook!! This is a place we will not forget. 👍
