This is quite simply one of the most fantastic places I have ever stayed. Harold House has been restored to immaculate condition. When we arrived, we spent ages simply wandering around marvelling at these gorgeous, well-appointed rooms and all the fascinating heritage features and items. The location is very convenient in Reefton township, but also quiet. If you are visiting the West Coast, I highly recommend staying here; we wished we had booked longer—in terms of accommodation, it was the best of our entire road trip around the South Island.

By sheer coincidence we booked this very last minute and it exceeded all our expectations. Beautifully decorated, very homey, spacious and with everything you need. Even a cd player with cd’s, dvd’s, fresh flowers, board games etc.
Greymouth

Showers have great pressure and ample warmth for the 5 of us to take short showers. Tracey was responsive, positive and prepared the house for us so it was nice and warm.

Has a bit of vintage feel to it with wooden cabins. Not that far from Franz Joseph city center (just over 2 kms). Very friendly staff. Great views from the villas. Board Games and Movies (DVDs) available to borrow from reception for the rainy day.
Villas were clean and had everything you need for an overnight stay
beachfront king villas were pleasantly roomy, quiet, private, well-equipped and comfortable great location - on the edge of town but close to Hokitika and glow worm dell was super easy to visit loved listening to the surf and watching the sunset would definitely stay again
The units next to the trampoline have the best view of the snow mountains and stary sky during the night. However if you are lucky to be assigned, as our villas is at the furthest corner facing a wall. No view to mention. Villa 18 please try to avoid if you can change.
Lodge was amazing and semi-private. I think I had the least private of the villas but someone had to have it. I also liked that the hotel catered to all sorts of budgets. Location was great and walking distance to everything in town.
I stayed one night at Greenstone. It was a Sunday and I was the only person staying there. Emily had set the fire and I lit when I returned to the villa after my cycle ride. The fire roared into life and an hour or so later the room was warm and cosy. Thank you Emily. I enjoyed the Greenstone Retreat, it’s quiet and has excellent facilities. I’ll be back
This is an excellent set of villas just outside Greymouth. Wonderful location, nice and quiet, dark skies and you can see and hear the native birds. The hosts are the owners and they really look after you. The villas are very clean, perfectly maintained, and spacious. Because we arrived on a Saturday, the hosts provide a dinner (extra cost) with other guests - great hospitality, but check this with the hosts to make sure it's being offered.
The best motel I've ever been. We chose the family villa with ocean view. The place is well decorated like a luxury accomodation. The backyard is so beautiful, enhancing the stunning sea view. My sons saw a kiwi passing by the backyard and went into the bush. The front door is a clear glass, people can see the kitchen/dining table. Not a problem for us, but might be for some people who wanted more privacy.
great location, beautiful views, spacious villas
A great location right on the beachfront. I loved being able to hear the soothing sound of the waves while relaxing on a comfy couch in front of the log burner. The host was extremely helpful and attentive. The lodge oozes character and has a nice combination of older charm coupled with modern conveniences. The bed was very comfortable and the Egyptian cotton sheets a luxurious treat. Overall it was very wheelchair friendly with a well set up accessible bathroom. I loved it and hope to visit again soon.
