Located in the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, Ryori Ryokan Tsurugata offers Japanese-style accommodations in a historical building from the Edo period. This was absolutely fabulous! The highlight of our trip and so off the beaten trail. The ryokan is stunning and right in the historic district on the canal. The 11 course dinner served in our room was delicious and such a special experience of Japanese foods. The breakfast was also delicious and traditional and served in a peaceful breakfast room. We loved the experience of the onsen, having dinner, and then taking a stroll by the canal in our yukatans. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Japan.

Our room had an adjoining garden, which was peaceful and lovely. The room was comfortable and well-appointed. The meals were traditional and delicious, with polite and kind staff. The bath was very enjoyable too.

A 7-minute drive from Shin-Kurashiki Train Station, hotel Bingoya features a beautiful garden, traditional Japanese cuisine, and Japanese-style rooms with free Wi-Fi and garden views. Bingoya is a wonderful traditional Ryokan and it was an amazing experience. Beautiful tatami mat rooms, shoji screens, sliding doors, hanging scroll alcoves, peaceful gardens with stone lanterns - perfect! Delicious breakfasts, which look gorgeous too. Lots of details in the buildings- inside and out, so it is lovely to contemplate your surroundings in one of a hundred different spots.

Yukai Resort Terunoyu provides a sauna and a hot spring bath, as well as air-conditioned accommodation in Maniwa, 30 km from Fukusen-ji Temple. Highlight must be the buffet dinner which has amazing variety with quality. Can make your own hotpot with 4 different types of broth (Sukiyaki, Yuzu etc). Best breakfast buffet. My daughter had her first Ping pong experience and she enjoyed it.
