Miyajima Seaside Hotel 3 stars

Japanese-style rooms feature a tatami (woven mat) floor and shoji sliding paper screens. Some rooms offer tranquil views of the Seto Inland Sea. They are fitted with an LCD TV, a mini-fridge and traditional futon beds. An en suite bathroom and yukata robes are provided. A quiet location a short drive from the Miyajima sights. It had very beautiful rooms that are nice and spacious, and we had a view of Hiroshima from our room. The food was excellent and the futons soft. The public bath was also nice and clean with a good size. The transfer bus service is excellent and the staff is helpful. 10/10

Kinsuikan 4 stars

Miyajima

All units in the ryokan are equipped with a coffee machine. There is a private bathroom with bidet in some units, along with slippers, a hair dryer and free toiletries. The units will provide guests with air conditioning, a safety deposit box and a flat-screen TV. The staff were exceptional. They provided expert advice and assistance with everything from restaurant bookings to luggage transfers. The hotel is stunning with amazing views of the sea and Torii gate. We upgraded on the second day to a bigger room with a temple view and it was really worth it. The staff were so helpful in this regard. The restaurant was very good. The rooftop terrace was amazing with stunning views. The private bean bag rest areas were perfect for our teenagers to chill out. I would highly recommend this hotel. Miyajima is so beautiful with so much to see and do, and a great location for a day trip to Hiroshima.

Miyajima

Rooms feature a traditional minimalist interior with a tatami (woven-straw) floor, Japanese decorations and traditional futon bedding. They are fitted with air conditioning, a TV and a bathroom with a shower, bathtub and toilet. Everything was exceptional. We loved the Oyado Tsukiusagi! It had the most comfortable futon beds we experienced through our 5 weeks of traveling through Japan, a beautiful and clean room, and the lady at the hotel was very nice and welcoming. We really love Miyajima so we were very happy that we could stay at the island through the night.

Iwaso 4 stars

Miyajima

The air-conditioned rooms feature tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding. Rooms in the Annex include a private bathroom with a bath and toilet, while rooms in the historical Main Building and Cottage Annex have shared bathrooms and toilets. We stayed in the older part of the ryokan and it was spectacular. The rooms have beautiful views and the onsen is heavenly. Staff were friendly and helpful, and our meals were delicious and perfectly presented. We had a very romantic stay and enjoyed being on the island at night. Do yourself a favour and wear the yukata - it's the most comfortable clothing I've ever worn. We would love to come back!

Ryoso Kawaguchi 2 stars

Miyajima

The air-conditioned rooms feature tatami (woven-straw) flooring and Japanese futon beddings. A flat-screen TV, a fridge, and an electric kettle with green tea are included. Yukata robes and a private toilet are included in each room, but bathrooms are shared. The shared bath is available from 16:00 to 23:00. Great stay in a historic building with a wonderful view from the top floor. The ryokan is very close to all the sights and is run by a lovely couple. The futons are comfortable and the private Onsen was nice. Breakfast was great, made from fresh local ingredients. Unfortunately no dinner is served on Mondays (we knew this beforehand) and because it was winter no restaurants (that we could find) were open for dinner. The local convenience store was our savior ;-) and after using the microwave at the ryokan to heat things up, we had a lovely meal in our room. If breakfast is anything to go by, we sure will have to come back sometime to try out dinner at the ryokan :-). Staying overnight is a great way to experience the island without the crowds and makes you appreciate the special place it is even more.
