Takeyaso Ryokan, hotel in Osaka

Takeyaso Ryokan is a cosy traditional Japanese Inn offering free Wi-Fi and air-conditioned rooms with TV. It is less than a 5-minute walk to Deyashiki Hanshin Railway Station.

The owner went out of her way to make it a great experience. Authentic and old Japanese house with a tiny but excellent bar and cool jazz tunes make a great ambience. The rooms are unique and comfortable and there's a kitchen available to use also. The best stay during the whole three week trip. I liked it so much that I booked a further three nights and look forward to returning one day. It's a two minute walk from Deyashiki Station which is on the main rail line for Kobe and Osaka. Perfect.

Kanko Ryokan Yamato, hotel in Osaka

Located in Ikoma and only 8.8 km from Iwafune Shrine, Kanko Ryokan Yamato provides accommodation with city views, free WiFi and free private parking.

This was a very nice change from the urban hotels during our travels around Japan. The proprietress is very charming and the breakfast prepared for us was very intricate with many Japanese foods. Sleeping and bathing traditional Japanese style is also something worth experiencing. To get there from Nara, take the train from Kintetsu Nara to Ikoma station where you can take the tramway up. You can just as quickly reach Ikoma station from Osaka. We visited in September and the last tram up was at 11pm. There was a restaurant open near the ryokan until 10pm (Indonesian). And if you are able to do some stairs, I highly recommend a visit in the morning to the temple complex above the ryokan. Keep following the steps above the first temples and you will find yourself on a truly magical path.

Hotel Wakamizu, hotel in Osaka

Boasting natural hot spring baths, Hotel Wakamizu is located just a 5-minute walk from Takarazuka Train Station on JR and Hankyu lines. Free WiFi is available in the public area and in some rooms.

Unfortunately this was a very small onsen town that most people wouldn't visit but because of that the staff were incredible as they weren't used to non japanese tourists. They bent over backwards to help us and inform us of how things work. The room had a large window overlooking the river and it was very zen watching the sunset. The private onsen was wonderful and i couldn't recommend the experience enough. If you want to get off the beaten track i would recommend this place as a great reset after a hectic japanese schedule.

Kaneyoshi Ryokan gives you the 'Japanese sleeping experience' with tatami room, tea, and a public bath. At the height of summer, no one was using the bath, so I had it to myself. The ryokan's location is fantastic for enjoying the night life of Doton-duri street. The staff are concerned for guests and were patient and thorough in explaining everything we wanted to know.

Really comfortable room - we loved the tatami flooring and futons, and the layout was great with the separated window room looking out over the river. Comfiest pillows of the whole holiday (we stayed in 5 hotels over 3 weeks). The location was ideal, though maybe not great if you have children with you. The onsen was fabulous - I am quite heavily tattooed and they had no problem with it all, so it was the only onsen I had the opportunity to use during my holiday.

Location is fantastic, just minutes away from Dotonburi, and the actual ryokan is very clean, has many amenities as well as an authentic Japanese experience for the cost. They also provide Yukatas, and have your futon set up for you which is a big plus.

Of course the onsen, but also the breakfast room, which looked very friendly and open. The breakfast itself was very good as well, especially nice as it was a traditional breakfast - as well as traditionally served. The room was nice, but of course traditionally small as a Japanese room with futons. We got exactly what we expected as a "typical Japan experience"

We wanted to experience a ryokan so booked this place. It wasn't quite what we had imagined since it's a huge place. The rooms are very large and had futons that were laid out at night. We opted for the traditional breakfast in the morning, which was fine though not extraordinary. The location is good, on the canal just across the street from a lively area with tons of restaurants and shops.

Absolutely lovely stay in an authentic ryokan. The welcome treats, yukata (bathrobe), and bath slippers provided were sweet, homey touches. The in-house onsen was a great way to end a long day and unwind.

Excellent location, had view over Dotonburi River which was stunning at night! Very comfy futons, large room for two people, tea and yukata nightwear provided, good sized bathroom, working AC, fridge for keeping drinks/food cool, lifts worked well, everything very clean and staff friendly! Not a bad thing to say, the perfect stay in a ryokan style room and at an excellent price!
