Maruni Ryokan, hotel in Omachi

Just a 3-minute drive from Happo-One Ski Resort, Maruni Ryokan provides comfortable Japanese-style accommodation featuring hot spring baths and free lobby Wi-Fi.

Fantastic little Ryokan in Hakuba. A great location for skiing, very walkable even in gear to the bus stop for the shuttle, or even to the Happo Gondola. The rooms is lovely. At first I was a bit apprehensive because I'd never slept in a tatami room kinda thing, but its pretty comfortable. Only thing I missed was being able to throw myself onto the bed :-) . The breakfast is amazing, I'd never had fish and rice for breakfast before, but it just works. A great Japanese experience in that regard. Staff are lovely, very kind and polite.

Good communication with the owner beforehand. Perfect location near the train station and the bus station to Ogisawa. Our luggage were taken care of by the owner in the morning and were waiting for us at Toyama station after doing the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. Very nice Ryokan overall with confortable futons.

The staff were really kind and allowed us to leave our luggage there when we went on our round trip up Tateyama. Onsen was comfy for 2 people and the tatami beds were comfortable too! Good value for money in Omachi and super close to the station.

The best things about this hotel are (1) the onsen which is located on a rooftop terrace, (2) the staff that went out of their way to make our stay excellent and (3) the traditional Japanese style room (although the thin futon could have been more comfortable for people who are not used to this type of bedding). There is free (iced) coffee, tea and water all day in the spacious lobby with comfortable couches. The hotel is in a quiet area and our room commanded a very nice view of the river and foresty and hilly landscape.
