The owners were really kind and made sure we had everything we needed. We went for skiing, but the weather wasn't great during our stay. They told us about lots of places we could visit nearby - interesting temples and a fantastic waterfall.

It was modern and clean.
It had a steep staircases. The corridor to the dinning room was cold as there was no underfloor heating.

Our stay at SENSUI was phenomenal! The staff were absolutely lovely and couldn’t be more friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is modern and clean, and the traditional Japanese room was beautifully laid out with lovely views over the town into the hills. The hotel provided all the clothing and items we needed to go to the onsens in the town.
We opted for having dinner which was a really delicious affair. Multiple courses like a tasting menu, of fish and beef, with our wonderful server who showed us how to cook shabu shabu. The dining area felt like a high end restaurant in its lay out and decoration. There was even a complimentary Sake tasting after. Breakfast too was relaxed and delicious.
The town itself was amazing, we loved wandering around the canal, visiting the Osen and taking the ropeway up the nearby mountain. Would love to stay here again!
Onishiya Suisyouen offers beautiful hot-spring baths, a sauna and Japanese garden beside the Maruyama River.

The food, the view, and the staffs were all lovely!! Really happy that they can accommodate for a solo traveller, a lot of ryokans don't accept solo guest. I travel in winter, and it was a fantastic view. The location is a bit far away from the station, but they offer free shuttle bus so make sure to use that. Highly recommend.

I got the traditional Japanese room and couldn't ask for a more perfect room. It really feels traditional without sacrificing comfort (there's an AC/heater and power strips with USB). The beds were extremely comfortable, there was a table in the room and it was very spacious. The private baths are amazing as well, and there's a system to know if they are in use or not before going there.
I also had dinner with Tajima beef there and it was seriously one of the best meals I ever had. The whole menu was so delicious! I also had the breakfast and it was incredible as well.
They help you set-up to go to the onsen, there's a yukata that you can borrow and even wellies (it was snowing for me). Seriously great service!
Experience culture authentically with a stay at this traditional Japanese-style accommodation. Sleep on the floor (on a futon roll) in a room furnished with tatami flooring and sliding doors. Guests can often expect access to a communal bath plus a complimentary Japanese garment called a yukata.
