Yatsusankan Over 6 years old, hotel in Hida

Offering traditional Japanese-style accommodation with spacious public baths, Yatsusankan Over 6 years old is a 6-minute walk from JR Hidafurukawa Train Station.

We stayed here for one night during our honeymoon and it was exceptional! Beautiful rooms with views over the river and Honkoji Temple. The onsen baths were wonderful, especially the outdoor areas, and the food was some of the best we tasted during our time in Japan! We can't recommended it enough, it was a highlight of our trip!

Tabist Ryokufuen Kiyoharu, hotel in Hida

Situated in the centre of Takayama, Tabist Ryokufuen Kiyoharu has an open-air bath, a garden, free WiFi, and free private parking for guests who drive.

Everything about this Ryokan was perfect. The beds are futon and so so comfortable. The Ryokan is old but very clean so has a lovely old world feel to it. It is away from the main tourist area which was very nice as it is quiet. We had a car so it was only 5minutes to the tourist area and there are lots of parking options in town. But there is also the option of a bike to hire from the Ryokan. The onsen is so beautiful & has two massage chairs. The breakfast was delicious. We had two vegetarians in our group and this was not a problem, they just made a variation for them. The room was very comfortable with a huge bath. They have cold water in the room and hot water on tap in an urn. The staff were all so friendly. In particular the lovely lady on the front desk, she made us feel so welcome. We stayed three nights but were sad to leave. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Oyado Koto No Yume, hotel in Hida

Just a 2-minute walk from Takayama Station, Oyado Koto No Yume offers Japanese-style rooms with a colourful touch.

The location of the ryokan is a stone’s throw away from the JR station and bus station to Shirakawago (2-3 mins walk). It is also about a 10 mins walk to the Miyagawa morning markets and the old parts of Takayama. The ryokan itself was very well-maintained, onsen was clean. They had a cosy corner for you to relax after onsen session with books and free tea. The staff provided excellent customer service, went above and beyond with dinner recommendations. Highly recommended!

The meals were sublime and the onsen was great. The river view cannot be beat, it's truly a great way to feel immersed in nature and at peace. I loved that they provided tea for you to make in your room. Yukata is provided which was fun to wear. The shuttle pickup service to/from the station was very convenient as we did not have a car.

Beautiful Ryokan! Room was clean and organised, was sufficiently warm during our Christmas stay. Their dinner and breakfast was divine and well set up! Staff was extremely friendly and is willing to explain things if you don’t understand! All the food that was provided showcased the prefectures speciality and unique ingredients. Everything was fresh as fresh can be.

A beautiful ryokan with the most incredible private onsens in the rooms. We had the mountain view room, which meant we could open our window from the spring bath and look out over the temple and mountains. The staff were so kind, they made it a wonderful experience. Although in a relatively rural setting, the hotel is only a 5 min walk to the train station.

If you are looking for a traditional ryokan experience, then Yatsusankan is the place for you. We particularly enjoyed the food and the onsen. The staff was able to assist us in English whenever we needed them, which positively surprised us in a remote town such as Hida.

A really special experience at this ryokan in Hida Takayama. We stayed in the suite with our own private onsen bath. Staff were very friendly and accomodating. We loved the kaiseki (traditional multi-course Japanese dinner) and breakfast.

We are from Taiwan, and this is an excellent traditional Japanese inn. I am very satisfied with the service, the guest rooms, and the hot springs. I suggest ordering sake during dinner and trying the famous Hōrai and Shirayumi sake, which are local specialties. Additionally, I recommend making a reservation in advance for a private hot spring bath. It offers a fantastic bathing experience, and it's very relaxing to have a glass of milk after soaking in the hot spring. Thank you for providing us with such a wonderful experience.

This is a typical Ryokan. We had a little onsen in our room. Great views of the shrine, river and mountains. Very friendly staff that really creates a customer experience. Meals are included so you will be served the traditional kaseiki in your own private dining room. The rooms are recently renovated.

It was an unforgettable ryokan experience. We ended up staying in both the Mountain View room and the Premium Suite. The PS was huge! It was beautiful, but older. The private onset was wonderful. I think I preferred the MV room though. It was newer and every detail was perfect. The people were wonderful. The food was incredible. Some things were a little challenging (the tiny firefly squid comes to mind), but I expected that. I met the nicest Japanese mother and daughter in the onsen, an experience I won't forget.

The welcome we received upon arrival was lovely. The ryokan feels very authentic with little hallways going off in all directions! We travelled through Japan for two weeks and this place had my favourite Onsen. To sit outside in the Onsen while it was snowing was magical. The breakfast was of course very Japanese and very abundant. We were never able to eat it all.
