Fairmont Orchid

Mauna Lani, Waikoloa

Situated amongst 32 oceanfront acres on the Kohala Coast, the Fairmont Orchid is a spectacular resort offering luxurious accommodation and extensive resort facilities to the discerning traveler.

The Fairmont Orchid’s stunning beachfront location of white sandy beach and aquamarine waters even attracts a family of sea turtles. The resort scenery includes landscaped gardens and gorgeous waterfalls and a 10,000 square foot free form pool. Resort facilities include a wide range of restaurants and bars, 10 tennis courts, 36 holes of golf, and a unique outdoor Hawaiian ‘Spa Without Walls’, which features waterfall massage huts and massage cabanas. Amazing location! Perfect for family with kids. We were upgraded to a partial ocean view room with direct access to the garden, and the kids loved being able to go easy outside and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. The nice sandy beach was great for the kids and the lagoon was spectacular, full of beautiful fishes! Staff were friendly and very helpful. I requested a mini fridge in the room and they also provided me with a microwave once I arrived. That was very helpful as we were travelling young kids. They also have laundry available. Oh and the food and drinks..so good!! Highly recommend we will be back.

Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts Collection

Mauna Lani, Waikoloa

Located along a white sandy beach on the Kohala Coast, this oceanfront hotel includes a spa, 2 restaurants and 2 golf courses. Kailua-Kona is 40 minutes’ drive away.

2 championship golf courses are located on site. A junior 18-hole golf course designed for children and a children’s golf academy are also available. This resort is really wonderful. We had an ocean view room, which was wonderful. The rooms are really well appointed and clean; functional as well given that this is a beach resort. The landscaping of the resort is outstanding. There are different pools and the beach, of course. The "adult" pool also works for lap swimming and is not so busy. There were always enough deck chair to use at the pools and beach and the service is generally very good, with friendly and helpful people. A highlight is really the sunset, which can be watched from the beach, the restaurants and bar, or just from a chair. We had a massage (mine was OK, my wife really liked hers), took a canoe/snorkling trip and I took a SUP class. The water classes were great and easy to book. The gym is great, with indoor and outdoor section. There are two main restaurants. The canoe house is amazing. Truly great Hawaiian and fusion cuisine, really well executed with great service. While it is expensive it is worth the money - maybe save some wine pricing by the glass for quite ordinary choices. The Halani/Ha Bar place is good but - like in all of the area - the prices are elevated to a silly level ($30 for a burger with so so fries). There is also a market that makes sandwiches and such and is great, with long opening hours. Service attention was great. We were asked for our departure plans and shared that we would be leaving after lunch. The hotel offered late checkout on their own Initiative.

Four Seasons Resort Hualalai

Kaupulehu

Located along the Kona-Kohala coast of Hawaii Island, the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai features even swimming areas, five dining options, and ocean views. An 18-hole Jack Nicklaus signature Hualalai Golf Course is on site. Rooms offer a flat-screen TV. We loved everything at the Four Seasons Hualalai Resort on the Big Island: the staff, the golf course, the spa, the paddleboarding, poolside with yummy free treats, the hotel itself and the restaurants. Miller and Lux, Tyler Florence's restaurant was off seriously off the charts. We even were seated next to a well known celebrity and his wife which was fun to see, but we did not disturb them. Dinner at the Beach Tree with the Luau was outstanding. Dinner at Sushi and Robata was also excellent. 10 out of 10!
