Harare is a beautiful city with friendly people. The CBD is very busy but traveling in the upmarket suburbs was great and refreshing.I would advise one to go with enough cash for their stay because we would occasionally encounter problems with network when we were using our VISA card.
Zimbabwe has a bad rap internationally due to its government and economic mis-management, but the people are very warm and open. Harare has a wonderful climate due to its elevation. Not a destination for beach bums, food lovers or shopaholics, but a good stop-over in between national parks and other outings.
Favourate places are the balancing Rocks in Epworth, Watch the sunset in Domboshava Sam levy village, Avondale shops and Arundel Village for the best restaurants in Harare. If you love wild life , Mbizi game park, Lion Cheateh park Local eat at Gava Restaurant Second street extension, Braai at Mereki and some local food at Harare Show grounds(lunches only) Avoid places that are too crowded Use a private taxi- they are plenty and affordable
Harare is a beautiful city. However, if you survive the potholes, you wont find your way as there are no street names, the traffic lights are so dirty it is difficult to see whether they are green or red, and you would most likely be stopped by the police and fined on some trumped up driving charge. It is a pity to see such a beautiful city in such disrepair.
Harare on the whole is beautiful friendly and helpful people.Would be good to see road maintenance and better driving
Harare is still value for money. Beautiful weather throughout the year for those traveling from cold weather countries . The best time is from March when it's not too wet. The city is beautiful at that time of the year with Summer/Spring flowers and lovely Jacaranda trees. First week of May, we have the HARARE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS (HIFA). This a Highlight of the city. You don't want to miss this . There a lovely museum , an art gallery, botanical gardens, wild life park nearby, old city Mbare to visit, a lion and cheetah park 20 km out of Harare, a snake park. Lots and lots of local and international restaurants were you can enjoy real fresh organic food. Nice 3 to 5 star hotels
Harare is fabulous. Just needs a bit of cleaning and a few drivers to be a bit cautious but it was lovely! Westgate was nice, food court lovely traditional meals
Great outdoors and plenty to see and do in Harare and outskirts. Really good food - traditional and world cuisine. Roads are pretty hectic and drivers not always courteous and for that reason I would recommend hiring a taxi and agreeing a daily rate. Favourite places, Gava’s In Belgravia for traditional food.
The booking made through booking.com is just a transit before which I stayed in Harare for about 5 days, long before which in turn i travelled to harare regularly between 2005-2007 when the old Zim dollars were used with official rate of 300 while on market 3000. Economy were going down then but things were still good and cheap and abundant in shops, but before long zim dollars depreciated fast until it backed off. At present harare still have its very good infrastructures but activities are not much. Hope things will get better without dictatorship. African people always suffer a lot from their own choice of dictatorship or presidents. Ceratin figures are considered founding fathers of the country but they are mostly the ones who brough the sufferings of the people. People elect who they like or they're familiar with but donot often consider whether they fit. Some country elected a football star to be a president.
Harare is busy. But people around town have time for guests. The sunshine city has the shine for a warm welcome and some evening vibe. I have never felt unsettled in Harare. I hope that this goes for everyone that graces this fine city
Harare
York Lodge is made of charming English bungalows (with modern amenities) in a lush green compound. Our compliments to Margot the owner for developing such a beautiful property with a blend of foliage (old trees and new plants and green islands) It was like staying in a botanical garden. Lounging on the broad verandahs, hearing sounds of birds and insects in the air conditioned temperature of Harare was bliss. The bungalows have modern amenities and this really helped us unwind!
Harare
Amazing place with so nice and warm owners. Barbara makes better overall experience in city Harare which is not so easy city at the first glance for non african. In the perfect area with greens and perfect silence. You do not have a feeling of being in chaotic Harare, feeling like being far away from city and you are literally in city. Nice apartment with everything inside and stable wifi..
The House and facilities were nice. Tv was nice too. The showers were clean, and the beddings were well kept. Many amenities are close by and there are taxis right outside the location. The single rooms were the best though if I have to say so. Accross the Harare Park, there's a nice place for breakfast call Afrotopia. Was a nice discovery especially if you like tea.
On arrival in Harare and after numerous calls I was then informed that they had secured a 30 day booking and couldn’t accommodate me. I was offered another place out of town which was completely different from what I had paid for. I stayed for 1 night and checked into a hotel.
It’s a basic hotel in downtown Harare (an area you should avoid unless you really need to). The service at the hotel was exceptionally good. The reception staff were incredibly helpful and professional.
The room was clean, had beautiful views of the Harare gardens and it was comfortable
Beautiful place . It's location just outside the CBD gives that peaceful and quiet environment.
We enjoyed the stay....the environment was clean ....the staff was very friendly....the owner was very hostile
I liked the rooms and the price it was worth it The staff was so helpful keep it up
Art Lodge never fails. Mr. Nkomo and family run a top notch place. The staff, food and environment always exceed our expectations.
Service and all facilities were good
