The Port Elizabeth Airport is 88 km away.... I had a wonderful stay at Amakhala Safari Lodge. The staff go above and beyond, the food is good and plentiful, and the suite is heaven. I recommend arriving by 2 PM on your check-in day so you can attend the afternoon drive. The drives are fantastic; the guides are very knowledgable and the reserve is huge. Come with a good attitude; you may or may not see depending on the weather or the fact that animals are unpredictable - but the guides will try their hardest! My guide Des made several efforts to find rhinos - even staying later than normal until we found them!

Situated in the Amakala Big Five Game Reserve, Bush Lodge offers an intimate lodge experience. It features an outdoor swimming pool, viewing deck and a number of game drives and bush walks. I absolutely loved everything about this stay! All of the staff were so attentive, friendly and professional. They really made me feel at home. All of the little touches and attention to detail were so appreciated and made the stay extra special. The setting was idyllic, the ‘tent’ was lovely and comfortable and the food was delicious. The game drives blew my mind. I still can’t believe all of the animals we were able to see. I kept track and we saw 62 different animals over the 6 drives! The interactions were just incredible. That was thanks to Jono Vision! Jono’s passion and enthusiasm for the animals and his commitment to making sure we were well taken care of was next level. This was my very first safari and the bar has been set high! Thanks to all who made it such a great stay!

Offering an intimate Big 5 safari experience, Quatermain's 1920's Safari Camp features a boma bonfire and BBQ facilities. It is located in the Amakhala Game Reserve. we loved everything - from our arrival up to our last breakfast. The staff was extremely nice, they know your name, diet, … felt super welcomed. You can tell that Julie and Riaan love this place and take very good care of it. Julie was very helpful, even months before our arrival she made sure we were fully prepped to stay at their camp. The tents are very nice, very comfortable and you even get a hot water bottle to stay warm at night! We had 3 game drives and decided to do the walking safari with Riaan (so knowledgeable!) on our last day. The rangers are so friendly and very respectful to the wildlife. We got to see all the beautiful animals, including lions with their cubs, and we learned so much along the way! We loved the whole family vibe and can only recommend this place. You will not regret coming here. ❤️
