Nice college town. Not much going on in the town other than the college though. One of the larger cities in West Virginia. Small, but dense. If you don't like traveling on steep hills not the town for you! People were really nice. Try Eat N Park while you're there.

Make sure that you experience all of the sites, The falls and the walking trails, the Historical Sites and the nearby, Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum that is approximately thirty five miles from the motel. We also enjoyed the antique shop and the great places to eat and plenty of places to shop. Fairmont is a very beautiful part of West Virginia to visit and explore. The gentleman who worked at the front desk told me that it's a great place to raise your children and in the short visit I was there I felt the same way as the people were friendly and Fairmont was beautiful Country.
Baymont Inn was one exit south of Tamarack--a West Virginia art center worth the walk around because of its beautiful setting and local artists' work from West Virginia. Pasquale's restaurant, just around the corner from the Inn was an Italian restaurant with good service and food.
Not very good if handicapped. There was lots of steps and inclines. A favorite look out spot was standing in West Virginia and looking across the Potomac River at Maryland and across the Shenadoah River at Virginia. Learned a lot about one of the beginnings of the civil war.
As you’re approaching the city by car you’ll notice there are some interesting pieces of architecture. The capital building has a gilded dome, there are some brutalist concrete 1970s looking monsters, it’s all kind of quaint and charming. Then you get down to actual street level and see crumbling decaying city infrastructure, can you start to feel like you’re on the set of a post apocalyptic movie. My wife and I really wanted to like Beckley it didn’t really like us, we really wanted to like Charlston too and it was kind of sketchy. Altogether we really think West Virginia needs to do some major renovation, will be back to give it a second chance sometime...
We were just passing through, but your employee sold the area so well that we will plan a trip back just to enjoy the surrounding area in West Virginia. He even picked out travel brochures from his favorite spots to send with us. This was the breakfast attendant. Great job!

It was a very nice 3 day mini vacation.. We stayed at the Hampton Inn Great Place, Clean, Great Staff. We also visited the Gandy Dancer Theatre, What A Amazing Show- Wow the Food melted in your mouth. Very nice people... Loved my stay in Elkins West Virginia..Patty
We stop at Beckley when traveling all the time. It makes a great place to spend the night. There are many different restaurants and the Tamerak is great to walk in and see all the crafters works. Also there is an unique Putt golf course . It is in front of a small brick ranch and the course is in the back yard. The course has all things related to West Virginia. Month Man to the Turn Pike. Good luck on that turnpike! Have fun and stop!
Oak Hill
Old and outdated hotel with a sad elevator. The pool was out of order for the season and completely unkempt 1/2 drained but what was left was a mix of dirty brown water and dead leaves. Apparently West Virginia has some of the poorest quality tap water in the country and while they had ice lemon water available it would have been nice to have a filtered water fountain to fill up our water bottles. That said, the room was sufficiently clean and the beds were comfortable enough.

Great price, nicely updated, clean rooms. Good location for getting to the Sandstone Falls and the Grandview locations of the New River Gorge National Park, and to the Tamarack Marketplace for West Virginia artisans. Breakfast was good too. The staff went above and beyond when my husband realized he didn't have his phone, and when we called the hotel, the person at the desk personally found it in the bathroom by the breakfast area where he had dropped it!

This place has everything you could possibly need! Way better than a hotel, this peaceful escape was our home away from home while visiting the New River Gorge Bridge! You can tell it’s freshly renovated and that the owner cares dearly about the guests with little touches all around this place! I even forgot a pair of shoes and they shipped them back to me!! I would stay here again anytime and highly recommend them to anyone looking to explore West Virginia!

The people in charge of the front desk were very helpful from my arrival until my departure from the hotel, the best of all was the service that Andrea gave us, a very helpful and special woman, having helped me wash my clothes after my Spartan race was unforgettable !! The room was very clean and comfortable. Our request for a first floor room was granted. The location of the hotel close to the expressway exit was perfect. Will probably stop here again when passing through West Virginia.

Close to the west Virginia renaissance faire - we didn’t go to it but I liked the fact that they had a pub in the hotel .
The hotel was over priced because it was homecoming for West Virginia Univeersity.
Beautiful grounds, breakfast buffet was wonderful, pool and hot tub were great, the executive suite was a great size, shuttles were always available and the driver was fantastic, dinner at Bunkers was delicious
