The gem of Harrison County with lots of convenient restaurants and shopping close by. Movie theaters are just five minutes from some really nice hotels. Depending on the day and time of day, traffic can be a little tricky. One of the nicest places in and around West Virginia. 90% of West Virginians are extremely nice. Cost is comparable to most places. The Springhill Inn and Suites is always nice. Texas Roadhouse, Ruby Tuesday's, Outback, and Denny's are really good. The theaters are really nice as well. The neighboring counties have lots to share, so plan on visiting some of them. Upsher County especially has some very nice festivals, especially the Strawberry Festival in May. It's a must see. Word to the wise, stay out of Barbour County! To those who remember the Dukes of Hazard in the early 80's, the legal system is quite similar!!!! Although they have one cool festival, their yearly Blue and Gray Reunion. It's sort of neat. But get out of the county as soon as possible.
Actually, I stayed in Wheeling but I was there to check out West Virginia Penitentiary.
It was a short drive to all areas .dog races were fun. also palace of gold up in the hills that was a fun ride on those roads. also went to West Virginia penitentiary on a tour
There is a view from everywhere. That's probably West Virginia as a whole. Nice little Mexican restaurant and decent shopping
This was just a mid-point stop for our family as we headed south, but I was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful West Virginia is. If I'd had more time, I would have liked to check out nearby river parks, and I would have loved to eat at the Cafe Cimino. We tried to go there for the dinner the night we were in town, but it was full, so we would have needed reservations. But it had live music and looked like it had some character!
A beautiful part of West Virginia. Historical sites and arts & crafts shops in nearby towns. Lovely hikes in the nearby Lost River State Park.
Beautiful area with extensive grounds and hiking trails right out of the door. Spa easily accessible and open long hours. Very helpful, friendly staff. Good small gift shop with items made in West Virginia. All in all, a fabulous place, highly recommended for people who love nature and are trying to get away from it all. Davis and Thomas both are quaint little towns with lots of restaurants, interesting shops, art galleries and music venues. Worthwhile to explore.
Charleston is a pretty place, nestled in the mountains - and the people of West Virginia are lovely - kind and friendly for the most part
Tamarack is a wonderful display of arts and crafts of West Virginia. People are friendly and its in a lovely location, Also it's 1/3 from Toronto on the way to Florida. Lots of outdoor adventures right on the doorstep.
We went to Blackwater Falls State Park in Davis. Usually in February we go cross country skiing there. This year there was no snow so we hiked and enjoyed the fantastic scenery. This is one of our favorite places to go in West Virginia.
Oak Hill
Old and outdated hotel with a sad elevator. The pool was out of order for the season and completely unkempt 1/2 drained but what was left was a mix of dirty brown water and dead leaves. Apparently West Virginia has some of the poorest quality tap water in the country and while they had ice lemon water available it would have been nice to have a filtered water fountain to fill up our water bottles. That said, the room was sufficiently clean and the beds were comfortable enough.

Great price, nicely updated, clean rooms. Good location for getting to the Sandstone Falls and the Grandview locations of the New River Gorge National Park, and to the Tamarack Marketplace for West Virginia artisans. Breakfast was good too. The staff went above and beyond when my husband realized he didn't have his phone, and when we called the hotel, the person at the desk personally found it in the bathroom by the breakfast area where he had dropped it!
Beckley
This place has everything you could possibly need! Way better than a hotel, this peaceful escape was our home away from home while visiting the New River Gorge Bridge! You can tell it’s freshly renovated and that the owner cares dearly about the guests with little touches all around this place! I even forgot a pair of shoes and they shipped them back to me!! I would stay here again anytime and highly recommend them to anyone looking to explore West Virginia!

The people in charge of the front desk were very helpful from my arrival until my departure from the hotel, the best of all was the service that Andrea gave us, a very helpful and special woman, having helped me wash my clothes after my Spartan race was unforgettable !! My next time in West Virginia would undoubtedly be at Microtel Inn just to see her again!!! Infinite thanks

The room was very clean and comfortable. Our request for a first floor room was granted. The location of the hotel close to the expressway exit was perfect. Will probably stop here again when passing through West Virginia.

We moved our daughter to West Virginia and the location was where we needed to be. The motel allowed pets, and this is a must for us. The room was very clean.

Close to the west Virginia renaissance faire - we didn’t go to it but I liked the fact that they had a pub in the hotel .
The hotel was over priced because it was homecoming for West Virginia Univeersity.
The location- if you like golf resorts The experience - was fab !!! The property (poster card sceneries around) The huge amount of green open spaces (thanks to the golf & recreations nearby)
Was given the wrong room at check in but was easily upgraded and staff was very friendly and helpful
