We loved staying at Hotel Casa Playa Zorritos for a few days over the holidays! The room (the one that looks like a boat) was clean, comfortable, well-kept, with a comfortable bed and all necessary amenities. The hotel looked and felt more like a mini-resort with multiple lounge chairs, a pool, palm trees, and overall just a pleasant place to be. We got the breakfast every morning consisting of coffee/tea, fruit juice, eggs, and bread w/ butter and jam. It only cost 3 sol to get to downtown Zorritos via tuk-tuk for any shopping more food options, and a nice beach.

Very friendly and patient staff considering I didn't speak Spanish. Sometimes the restaurant service could be faster outside of the breakfast service. Nice to have a pool and the gym was quiet. Very clean and in a good, central location. The staff were helpful when I went on a tour to the National park - they took note of the hours I would be gone and spoke to the person leading the tour. Made me feel looked after! Also no problem for them to get you a taxi and the doorman was exceptional, very friendly. I'd had a busy few weeks and this stop allowed me to relax and I enjoyed the hotel so much I spent a lot of my time there!

It is a sad town. No night life. Food is expensive. Almost no places where they have air conditioning. Tumbes airport does not have air conditioning. The beaches are dirty. Awful place to go!
Tumbes is a stopping over point. Small city, quaint but not a vacation spot. I was there on business. I wouldn't likely stay there if I was sightseeing. The beach is nearby, a 25 minute taxi ride with nice hotels right on the beach. There are some marshes a few minutes away, too, with birds and sea turtle exhibits.
Plan better and if headed south onto peru get to Waltako Beach or one of the other beach areas. Tumbes is a border town and not very pleasant.
Locals said it was dangerous at night and in several areas during the day. Nobody in town spoke English. There's no infrastructure for foreigners at all. I had a bus at midnight but the bus station locks before 7pm so I ended up stranded on the street in the middle of the night - because all the hostels lock their doors at night as well and their doorbells often dont work. Avoid Tumbes.
The property is beautiful with a great beach and ocean (great waves!). The grounds/gardens are meticulously cared for and the staff are super attentive! The food was tasty and for all 3 meals and good size portions. A little piece of paradise, very very tranquil and quiet, which is what we were looking! Although about 1.5hr from Tumbes airport, the hotel set up a private transfer that was on time and very comfortable.
Seems to be the nicest hotel in town. Rooftop terrace is nice. Fitness center has lots of options. Being connected to the mall via the restaurant was a bonus. Also, the pedestrianized street leading to the river is an island of (relative) calm in bustling Tumbes. If you want to stay someplace nice before heading up to the Mangalares or down to the beach, this seems like your best option.
Owners Pablo and Sandra are there all the time to make sure you have a great experience; delicious food; beautiful place, with great views and full of decoration details; la great place to relax and enjoy life!

The pool and relaxation areas were fantastic, the rooms were comfortable and the restaurant food was varied and very good. I'd highly recommend the restaurant over and above rushing out into town. The access down onto the beach was ideal.
Right on the beach. Clean and comfortable. Edwin, the host, is very attentive and kind.
