Set in a restored private mansion, East Indies Mansion is located in the heart of UNESCO World Heritage Site of George Town. very nicely designed rooms with very friendly staff, providing us lots of tips and recommendations on where to go and visit. They are very helpful and can reach out to them easily via whatsapp for questions. they provide little local snacks each night for us to try. one thing i didn't read properly is that there is no TV in the room, but it was fine. we were watching on ipads and just chill in the room

Situated within the UNESCO World Heritage city of Georgetown, Coffee Atelier is a collection of 5 beautifully-restored shophouses dating back to 1927. Location, staff, the schnitzel and Austrian wine at the owners restaurant! We stayed in a ground floor room with the open but enclosed courtyard and having that idyllic private outdoor space was amazing! The breakfasts were superb, the coffee amazing and the room cleaning incredible given the explosive suitcases we seem to have ! It’s close to Chinatown, little india and amazing street food. Listen carefully to the restaurant tips marked on a map when you arrive!! Visit them all. Particularly the Indian and Chinese recs. Another we can highly recommend is nearby ‘Al Bash’. Try their Syrian dips! Wowee The Blue Mansion is a complete rip off but the other nearby Chinese mansion amazing!

Easy to move around with the free city bus. Lots of food stalls; excellent food everywhere. Historical Georgetown with Chinese, Indian, Malay, Muslim etc. areas is very interesting. Lots of shopping options: markets, shops, shopping centers. Easy to take a taxi for an island tour. Must visit places outside Georgetown: Penang Hill (great view, cooler air), Kek Lok Si temple, nature park, Batu Ferringhi area (beach, night market).
Nice little city with a good vibe, especially during the night. Food culture in George Town is excellent. The Penang national park provides a few nice hikes.
Ilmainen bussi (CAT) on kätevä näkee kaupungin hyvin. Taksit ovat halpoja. Penang hill kannattaa käydä. Mahtavat näkymät.

Great shopping malls, lovely, LOVELY food, warm weather; modern and old mixed together nicely, great friendly people always willing to help, and most of them speak English. Loved it! Easy, safe and very inexpensive to move around by taxi. It was wonderful to find such a beautiful place! If it wasn't sooo far from my home country (12 + 1,5 hours flight time), I'd sure go there more often. Hopefully some day I find myself there again. Penang / George Town, you took my heart and soul <3
