Cesis is a cute little town about an hour's drive out of Riga. Cesis castle is a MUST SEE! It cost only 6 euros to enter, and staff provide quite an interactive and entertaining experience for adults as well as children. A short drive from Cesis in Sigulda is Tarzan's Adventure Park, set in the beautiful Gauja national park, it includes a toboggan ride! Looks like so much fun! Unfortunately it was raining the day we went.
Augšlīgatne
Peaceful place in the middle of Latvian countryside: ponds, meadows, birch groves, scattered farms. The surroundings were in fact more beautiful and unspoilt than those of the Gauja national park nearby. The accommodation itself is rather basic, but functional, so if you are a bit adventurous (and romantic!), I would definitely recommend this place. It is great especially for a stay with children who can play around here and discover the neighbourhood the way we used to when we were kids...

The apartment was clean, well equipped and we really liked the design how it was furnished with all details that reminded local traditions and Latvia. Marta was very nice host willing to help us with everything. The location was very quiet and safe, very close to Gauja National Park. We had everything we needed. I can recommend this accommodation for sure.

It was the biggest and the nicest suprise I got on my way - beds are huge and nice, you got your own personal light and locker. Bathroom is huge, modern and very clean, same goes for the common room and kitchen. Perfect spot for exploration of Gauja National Park, the most comfortable hostel I've ever stayed in!
Wonderful place in countryside. Apple trees, a stork right in front of our window. Nice historic location in a small village. Good location for hiking in Gauja national park. A cozy room with more than enough space. Great breakfast. Very friendly people. A genuine experience of authentic, but modern-style Latvia.
At Hotel Senleja I felt immediately at home and very welcome. The modern and comfortable hotel is perfectly located for trips through Gauja National Park, the room was sparkling clean and there was always something special for breakfast among with the regular breakfast ingredients. I'll gladly come again!
The hotel is in an old historic building but has been remodeled on the inside. Just next to the historic part of town, about 10 minute walk from the bus/train station. Room was clean and comfortable, very quiet with a great view over the rooftops. Entrances to Gauja National Park about 2.5 km west.
Turaida
Great location if you travelling by car. It is in the middle of Gauja National park, few km from Turaida castle. Room was spacious, nice and very calm. Breakfast was at the cafe near hotel. They served hot drinks, water and one plate of English type breakfast, which was really good.
Hotel is easy to find, it has access to the lake. Location is perfect to explore Gauja national park. Our room was really spacious, actually we did not expect that. Simple, but nice breakfast, friendly host and staff.
We loved our time at Zeit Hotel! Very nice breakfast, great starting point for exploring Gauja National Park. Bonus points for the friendly cats in the area :)

A very comfortable and cozy apartment, everything you need is here!!! In general it is great location to stay, for visiting Gauja National Park.
It's a cozy and pleasant place to stay in the small town of Sigulda. The bed was good and overall just pleasant.

The location, surrounded by nature, peaceful and quiet. The house had all we needed.
We loved the Kempings Ozolkalns! The cabin very comfortably accommodated our five family members and was very clean and functional. The location by the Gauja River was very enchanting and we particularly enjoyed swimming there. The proximity of the campground to the amenties of Cesis and the rest of the Gauja Park was also a huge plus!
Very nice setting at a lake. Small tidy blockhouse with great sauna!
