Location was exceptional with station connected to hotel and one stop from Nagoya station.

Quiet location at the end of the row of shops but within walking distance to the train station and shopping area. Complimentary parking for hotel guests with ample parking across the the street with an outdoor and elevator parking system. Amazing breakfast spread with many choices to choose from and children’s cutlery provided. There is also a limited amount of curry rice at the lounge in the evenings. Indoor and outdoor Natural Onsen on the top floor with a coin laundry room and vending machines. The tv in the room has information on the congestion situation at the onsen. There is also a pillow room on certain floors with different types of pillows you can choose from. Rooms are spacious and guests are given a nice toiletry pouch that you can bring back. Two sets of lounge wear and 2 sets of towels are provided. One of the better types of hair dryer provided by a hotel. Overall the attention to detail and facilities provided makes it a great place to stay. Will definitely choose to stay here again if we’re in Shizuoka again.

I chose Gotemba by looking on a map at a close enough place to Mt Fuji for shameless photo opportunities. I spent approx 18 hours total here, it's pleasant. But I didn't explore the surrounding area due to time or get closer to Mt Fuji than the 20km I already was. I got some cool pictures and saw another part of Japan though. It is about an hour local train from the main tokaido shinkansen line. I would imagine it is a good place for a base if you'd like to do more activities such as hiking, spas/onsens etc. But cannot speak from experience as I did neither.
Nagoya castle was amazing! We took the free english tour, worth it, you learn so much more.Oasis 21 at sunset:wow! Arimatsu, just outside city center, is worth the trip!! Old Tokaido road with Edo period homes, most charming place around Nagoya!! They have a kimono shop with a tea garden, a must stop! Not a lot of tourists, its a hidden gem!
Interestingly, it is a town with lots to see as well as To Lovelive Sunshine stamps hunting. Not many people know about the beauty it can offer. Visited the Izu Marine life, Deep sea aquarium, beautiful Mount Fuji facing on the Senbon beach and Pine grove, delicious fresh seafood in the Seafood market and many more. Had done a trip to Gotemba Factory Outlet shopping by using the JR Tokaido line that cost 410Yen with free shuttle services fearing to the Outlet. I wish I can stay longer the next time.
The environment is absolutely beautiful. There are trees and flowers all over Ito. The Jogasaki Coast (the suspension bridge) and the Mount Omuro are must-go places. Views are stunning there and are great places for young couples to discover. There are some restaurants along the main road - sashimi, sushi, cafes, ice cream shops. We ate sashimi with hotpot, and the place was a very traditional Japanese place. Loved it! However, it is hard to get around Ito, even though we had 2-day free Tokai bus passes, the buses were somehow not connected to each other very well, plus we can’t understand Japanese bus schedules, so it made us a bit hard to get around. We ended up taking expensive taxi to places.
Shizuoka
Backpackers Hostel Tsubamenoyado is in the town of Kambara, which is a very strategic location especially for those who travel along Tokaido on foot. The convenience store is within one minute walk. The hostel is impeccably clean and the beds are very comfortable. The hostel owner is very friendly and speaks English well. I would highly recommend this hostel to those who intend to visit Kambara.
Fuji
Location very close to Fuji station (but not Shin-Fuji station where the shinkansen of the Tokaido-Sanyo line stops!). Good value for money. Large, spacious room. Laundry available upstairs.
Atami
Quiet ryokan up on a hill with a view overlooking the valley and onto the bay. Good breakfast selection. Tokai Bus from Atami station stops right in front of the hotel lobby.
Staying in ryukan is a must of my trip to Japan and Arai Ryukan doesn't make me disappointed. Starting from the location of the ryukan which is very easy to reach. You get off to check in and the staff will bring your car to the parking. Checking in is my first impression. The staff is willing to answer your questions and will show you all facilities available. You will have your own personal caregiver. The dinner and breakfast are included in the price and they are very excellent. The onsen both indoor and outdoor are the unforgettable experience. The town attractions are located within the walking distance..
Beautiful views, clean, and good value. The shuttle made it very convenient to travel to and from the station. The breakfast had delicious Japanese and Western choices. We would love to come back.

To be honest, we like everything in this resort, including the onsen, breakfast and dinner, our traditional style of room, and most of the staff! We enjoyed their three different onsens very much, particularly, the outdoor onsen on the top of the hills. It's just fantastic!
Room with sea view. Able to see sunrise from the room balcony. Beach is beautiful. You can surf as well if up to it. Shirahama shrine is just beside hotel. Check out the cliffs n beach behind the shrine.

We had a very spacious room with a beautiful ocean view. We especially enjoyed the complimentary beverage service. The staff was very helpful. Food was very good, but did not offer much in variety if staying multiple days. It's a little out of the way, but there is shuttle service available to Toba Station if you wish to venture off and do some sightseeing. Just be sure to leave and return between the shuttle service hours.
We like the rooms and the view from our room and the onsen,ofcourse the food was excellent too
