The room was very beautiful & modern looking with lots of amenities. Staff was very friendly and showed us around the property and explained to us everything we needed to know. The beautiful garden near the reception was freely accessible with a place for small fireworks. The surrounding area was very peaceful in the evening but lively and full of interesting shops and restaurants during the day.

Boasting a shared lounge, bar and views of garden, Hotel Koo Otsuhyakucho is set in Otsu, 9.2 km from Daigo-ji Temple. We are so pleased we went to Otsu and Hotel Koo. The accommodation was so lovely and we adored the tour of the local area. The rooms are so much better than the photos suggest - full of beautiful danish furniture, great amenities (porlex grinder and pour over coffee, lovely bath products) and beautiful construction. We’ve stayed in a lot of Machiyas and this one was such a beautiful, high quality renovation. The staff were so kind and nothing was too much trouble. I highly recommend to anyone wanting a night or two break from Kyoto, this is real Japan.

With the hotel being newly opened, the facilities were spotless. I enjoyed relaxing in the outdoor pool and jacuzzi, admiring the sunset behind the Hira mountains. Dinner was a meat lover's dream, with every course bursting with flavor and perfectly paired wines. The next morning, we indulged in a breakfast made from fresh Omi vegetables, delivered via room service so we could savor it while taking in the scenic view of Lake Biwa. And the staff were all incredibly friendly.

Each room has a lake view and is beautifully furnished. The Onsen are well equipped and you can sit in them while enjoying the view on the lake with a fresh breeze coming your way. Although somewhat limited in English, the staff was very committed to helping us in any matter. Definitely recommend visiting the lounge on the 10th floor for drinks (some are free in the evening) and a very pretty small shop, full of locally sourced products (culinary and small arts). After our evening Onsen round, the hotel offered amazing Soba to close the night. We took the breakfast in the morning and were not disappointed, as it features plenty of very delicious options.

The guesthouse is located at the end of a small road right by the rice fields. It was very quiet and peaceful and I had a good night's sleep. The house is tastefully decorated and has all the amenities you would need, including a washing machine that you can use for a small cost. The host speaks good English and explained clearly about everything in the house. The room was clean and tidy, and the futon was very comfortable. I would recommend others to stay here.

Breakfast ingredients were provided by the house owner ( bread , ham , eggs , vegies and rice ) all kitchen equipment were there. Owner was very nice and kind.
