I wasn’t expecting that much given the reasonable prices, and while it’s no 5 star hotel, it was one of the best hotels I stayed in during my 3-4 months in SE Asia. My room was much bigger than most other places here. Clean as well and no smell in the bathroom. Felt like it had been redone recently because it was all new construction. Plus the little cafe in the front was very cute and served coffee and food.

Perfect for connections with super clean rooms, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, tooth brush and paste, sewing kit, shoe polish..etc... BUT... for me the staff.. every department, so friendly and accommodating . They went out of their way to provide me me with wifi connection while there was a temporary wifi problem. You can be sure to be looked after. I stayed there twice and they will be always my choice of accommodation. Thank you to all the beautiful staff of Grand Dafam Yogyakarta. Much much appreciated :)

Yogya has a lot of historical sites from the late induist age, Prambanan and Borobudur are just the highlights. It is a relaxing version of Jakarta, perfect for scooters if you are used to it (not the best place to start if you have never ridden in Asia, though). The surrounding areas are closer to the real country than most of the tourist places in jkt or Denpasar and if you are interested in the "medieval" buddhist/induist reigns of Java it is the place to visit. For backpackers it is a perfect spot on Java: easy to reach both by flight and by trein, lots of bus connections too. It has great value for money accommodation, cheap food, and you can reach most of the interesting places from there, including mount Bromo and the hills around Bandung.
Surabaya is just plain ugly, it is polluted and it is not liveable. There are a few decent spots (a church, a mosque...) and you will have to go there by taxi. I have been walking around the city for 2 days trying to find some nice places. I ended up dirty with smog, almost killed by a car and with no memory of any nice corner. You cannot walk anywhere. The nightlife is not too bad: there are a couple of nice bars (Ourbar, Oldwood restobar, maybe Eclectic) and some average clubs (Colors, Foreplay). It's not difficult (euphemism) to hook up. That's maybe the only thing you can do there before leaving as soon as possible to some of the amazing destinations in East Java like Borobudur or Prambanan.
La città appare abbastanza povera, molto trafficata, non è bella ma rappresenta bene lo stile di Java. La cosa decisamente imperdibile della zona sono i templi magici e immensi di Borobudur e Prambanan, uno spettacolo. Nelle vicinanze c'è anche il vulcano Bromo.
Templi Borobudur e Prambanan, i più grandi del mondo rispettivamente buddhista e hinduista. Peccato che a Java siano ormai solo monumenti culturali e non più templi attivamente utilizzati. Con un po' di fortuna troverete qualche studente che vi farà da guida! Taman Sari Water Castle e palazzo del sultano da vedere al mattino perché poi chiudono. Perdetevi nelle stradine attorno al water castle e fatevi raccontare dagli abitanti le storie del passato, comprate batik al negozio della cooperativa del sultano e bevete del buonissimo Kopi Luwak! Mangiate dagli ambulanti un'ottima cucina espressa seduti su tappeti posti sul marciapiede, ma non dimenticate di togliere le scarpe!

Yogyakarta è suggestiva! adatta ai backpacker , è una cittadina facile da girare da soli anche a piedi . la sera si popola di gente festosa e di tanti locali con musica dal vivo ! E' la città degli artisti : pittori , musicisti , attori . Non è una città costosa , si può economicizzare molto . Piena di ostelli e di B&B . E' presente la stazione dei treni e dei bus , aeroporto vicino , poco fuori dalla città . Da Yogyakarta partono diversi tour , è tappa d'obbligo perché si posiziona in centro all'isola di Java . SUPER CONSIGLIATA
La città è un posto strategico per visitare Java, in particolare i templi di Borobudur e Pranbanam. È molto vivace e si possono trovare ristoranti e street food di buon livello. Dispone di un ottimo aeroporto ben collegato ma può essere raggiunta in treno da Giakarta.
Abbiamo trascorso una giornata a jepara per prendere il Mattino seguente il traghetto verso Karimunjava! Spiaggia bella e pulita!
Per respirare un po' di vita javanese è un ottimo posto. Alcune cose davvero interessanti da vedere senza eccessivi sbattimenti. Assolutamente da vedere.
Kraton, Yogyakarta
Villa con stanze in perfetto stile javaniano. La stanza era ampia e con 2 letti matrimoniali, il bagno in camera (un po' vecchio ma pulito), avevamo un salottino esterno meraviglioso tutto per noi! Ottima accoglienza e signora davvero gentile. Cambio lenzuale e ascugamani quasi quotidiano. Posizione ottima per muoversi. Personale super disponibile per indicazioni di ogni tipo
Abbiamo trascorso all'hotel una notte di passaggio tra Java e Bali ed è stato un sollievo dormire in questa oasi, in casette praticamente indipendenti circondate da un giardino curatissimo con altissime palme. Siamo riusciti anche ad usufruire della piscina, aperta fino a tardi. Il ristorante offre un menù vario internazionale.
Gianluca ci ha accolto nel suo bellissimo hotel con tutti i confort possibili. La struttura è nuova, pulita e accogliente, con una colazione davvero eccezionale. Ci ha dato anche un grande aiuto per andare e tornare dalle Karimunjava, in pratica è stato come tornare a casa e passare del tempo con un vecchio amico.

Location is good. It has good view. The weather is cool to cold. Bath tub for hot water in the room also good. The atmosphere is good. Easy to find food even we need to drive 5 mins (Asep Strawberi & Cibiuk Resto).

The room is clean, staffs are friendly. We arrived at this place at mid nigjt, but staffs were cooperative and happy to welcome us. The location is strategic. Not noisy inside the accommodation, evethough it is located in the main street (Jl. Panjang).
