Oh my what a trip. Hard to find a place with mote character and friendly staff. Novels are written about places like this. The bar, the room, the food, and the super kind people. We were travelling with 2 young children including a baby, albeit out of season, and we had a ball.

With panoramic views over Brodick Bay, The Douglas Hotel offers boutique bedrooms with free Wi-Fi. The historic hotel is a 10-minute walk from Brodick centre. Our room and our bathroom were very spacious. The breakfast was hearty and tasty and the food at the bistro where we went every evening was varied and good. We were lucky to have live music one evening at the bistro. The staff were all very kind, helpful and agreeable. For our purposes the hotel location was perfect. We didn’t have a car so it was important to be close to the ferry terminal. We hiked and there are loads of hikes that can be started from the hotel ( no real need to get a bus). Alternatively the bus stops are just on the doorstep if you want to visit the other parts of the island
