Seen quite a few small towns and villages in Estonia, but Elva, in the summer, is definitely worth stopping by. You can swim in two lakes (and even more if you know where they are) and the typical colour is green: trees are just about everywhere and as soon as the first rays of sun are out in April or May, people start putting up window boxes and flower baskets everywhere! In the summer it's definitely a place to visit. The pub across the Konsum shopping centre has just been renovated and as in all pubs in Estonia it's a good place for both a drink and a hot meal. Estonian pubs serve great food wherever you go. And at a moderate price. Close to Elva (on the road to or from Tartu) you have Nõo, a cute village with an equally cute church. And one village shop. And if you have a car and can drive to Röngu, make sure to go to the bakery there: Röngu Pagar is a bakery where people come from all over Tartumaa to buy bread, cakes and biscuits, all made on the premises. If you don't have your own transport: Elva is 45 mins away by bus from Tartu bus station. There is roughly speaking one bus per hour. If you have a bicycle, you can bike to Elva. If you can make it here when it snows, it's even more beautiful!
