A fantastic place to stay if you have time to relax on the Galapagos Islands. Resort provided great shopping and restaurants; ferries to other islands; day trips including snorkelling and all amenities. The Darwin Research station, beautiful beaches and other places of interest were also within easy reach.
Great under water light at night st the pier, so you can watch sharks and sea lions at night. A little touristy city in comparison to other islands in Galapagos. Huge number of your agencies to book day tours, great walk to tortuga beach! Carlee Darwin breeding center is also ice to visit and it's free. City is pretty small and you can walk everything. Look for the $5 (or a bit more, but under $10) menu del dia, that includes usually soup, main dish and juice. There is also the kiosko street, where you can get cheaper authentic food at night.
This was a wonderful place to visit and stay. The hotel and owners were wonderful and so helpful. The Galapagos Cottages was clean, well appointed and a great place to stay.
Main island to explore the Galapagos. Lots of excursions nearby including Tortuga Bay - one of the best beaches in the world. Plenty of restaurant options all within walking distance.
Small, clean and easy to get around. Plenty to do for 3 to 4 days that won't break the bank. Did however find food quite expensive and quality not so good but we don't come to Galapagos for food!!!
Isabela has a small population and most everyone lives in Puerto Villamil. We did the Los Tintoreas tour, the Túneles tour and a private tour to the Sierra Negra volcano all through Pahoehoe. Everything went well overall, but I recommend you ask twice about snorkeling masks. The boat we were on to the Tunnels did not have enough masks for everyone. Be sure to walk to the lagoons at the edge of town to see the Flamingos. They are beautiful. We went near sunset and there were many flamingos there at that time. We had lunch at Cesar’s Restsurant - the Plato principal for $6 is a great deal. The fish and shrimp were both good. Dinner at the Booby Trap was ok as well but the best dinner was at El Cafetal Galapagos where we had swordfish. Corkage fee at the Booby Trap was $10 if you want to bring your own wine. Many amazing things to do and see in Puerto Villamil.
This Port is a very laid back small beach town yet good selection for restaurants and lodging. People are very friendly and helpful and don't pressure you to book a tour at all. Unusual! We did Los Tunnels and it was fantastic with Pahoehoe Galapagos tours and they know how to perform service and a great tour. Our Guide Gabrielle did a magnificent job for the land tour and also the tunnels snorkel! We saw lots of Ray's, giant sea turtles, a cave with 15 shark... Ya! And 2 SEAHORSES! Ya!! Book in advance with them as they are busy. Go in the morning for the Tunnels for better clarity. Taxis are nice pickup trucks costs usually $1.00 p.p. for basic area. We are at Coco Surf and highly recommend them!
Great place it has Just everything that you want to see in the Galapagos. There are many options to do by yourself and the tours (360 and 180) around the island were fun and Good for wildlife watching, snorkeling, and Photography.
The hub of our Galapagos island hopping had several good restaurants. Garrapata,, El Giardino, we stayed at Galapagos Suites and it was a perfect choice. The day tours to North Seymour and South Plazas islands provided all the walking, snorkeling and experience with land and marine creatures we had hoped for. The guides were all excellent and the seas were calm in late March. We did not feel the need to stay in any other island for a 5 day trip.
Perfect strategically location to explore other islands and snorkeling and diving spots. Lots of hotels and cafes and restaurants , even a local food market to have dinner. You can see lots of tortoises if you visit Tortoises Reserves and Darwing Scientific Station, iguanas all over the beaches and islands. Excellent place to discover Galapagos !
Puerto Villamil
Excellent Apartment Hotel in Isabela, our host Nancy was attentive and communicated with us during our entire stay, she was willing to help us with anything. The hotel seems brand new! The kitchen, with coffee maker, is a really nice to have, especially if you plan on a more extended stay. Drinking water was provided and much appreciated. The hotel is a 7-10min easy walk from downtown/beach, little "tienda" market next door. Our favorite stay in Galapagos, would not hesitate to stay here again! Thank you!
Torre Mar is located near plenty of shops and restaurants. The apartments were spacious and beds were comfortable. When one of the TV's wasn't working right, it was replaced with a new one the next day. Donna and John, the owners, were very helpful in accommodating us and provided us with helpful information on all things Galapagos, as it was our first time on the island. Both speak English which made communication so much easier. We would definitely stay there again.
Puerto Villamil
By far our favourite hotel of all four that we stayed at on Galapagos! Friendly, helpful, welcoming reception staff that booked our tours of Isabela at a great price and were always there when we needed them. The clean, comfortable, big room with a modern bathroom was a pleasure. The large breakfast offered some variety (unusual for Ecuador). The pool is a cool addition and nice to chill around. Close enough to all the restaurants, the beach and the centre.
Puerto Ayora
I came here after deciding to explore the Galapagos the day before. I was able to sort out all of my ferries, tours, purchase equipment and see and explore the Islands offerings all from this hostel. It's a family run spot that is so thoughtfully put together. Every resource you could want is accessible upon the check-in tour. I cancelled the other hostel I booked to stay here again. SO grateful for the experience and comfy sleep.
The rooms are nice and clean, large, comfortable, and modern. Hotel about a 5 min walk to the main street by the harbour where all the restaurants are. Staff are pleasant, helpful and speak English. They were great in arranging a very reasonably priced taxi tour of the Highlands for us : ) Also, can fill up water bottles with purified water which, given the need to stay hydrated in the Galapagos, was appreciated.
Absolutely fine hotel. Very nice and engaged staff. Good location, very close to the port but quiet at the same time. The restaurant in the hotel is not fancy, but food was very good. The hotel is maybe a liitle bit simple, but you are coming to Galapagos for watching the nature, not hotel luxury! Anyway, based on my observations in the town, I think this is one of the best hotels in Puerto Ayora.
The breakfast was very good. It was typical of what we got during our time in Ecuador. Coffee, fresh juice, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs with toast, butter and jam. It's the Galapagos so we read from other travelers that sometimes ants and bugs happen to be in the rooms. We didn't get bit or anything but having that expectation is helpful. Eduardo is a great host and a fascinating person.
Spoiled. Totally spoiled by Blu Galapagos. Everything was over the top perfection. The hotel is on the waterfront near the Charles Darwin Research Center and just enough on the edge of town that you feel isolated yet still within a five minute walk to the heart of this sweet port town. We stayed in the Darwin Suite which is primo for celebrating a loved one or yourself. I’ll be back for sure.
Puerto Ayora
it’s a smal nice guesthouse very good located . Yogo the owner with his mom are very friendly . I came with no plans and he helps me organizing my whole trip here in Galapagos and Ecuador. He compared different options is knowledgeable about whole Ecuador and was really interested to find the best solution . So highly recommend his beautiful Guesthouse and his Travel agency, the Darwin path.
The hotel was perfectly located -- on a quiet street, but just a block from the main road, close to wonderful restaurants, and a short walk from the Darwin Center. the hotel is very charming, and we enjoyed breakfast on the covered patio. Joselyn was a warm and welcoming host. We hope to return to Santa Cruz and will definitely stay at the Hotel Galapagos Suites B&B!
Puerto Ayora
This hotel was impeccably designed and could not be in a better location. The young trio running the place are absolutely fantastic hosts and happy to help you with any travel needs. You can't find better value for money anywhere on the Galapagos. The view od the port was absolutely lovely. Would recommend staying here to anyone travelling through Puerto Ayora.
We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Volcano. The hotel was very cozy, located in the center of Puerto Villamil. We arrived in the morning before the official check in. David welcomed us with a nice fruity drink and our room was ready within 10 minutes. He was very accommodating and helpful. Isabela is a beautiful island, don't miss it on your way to the Galapagos
Puerto Ayora
Location, location, location. We had an ocean view room with a little shared balcony. Fell asleep to the sounds of waves (and sea lions). Doesn't get any better than that! Just a short stroll away from the town. Was able to prepay with a credit card (which was an unexpected nice surprise since not too many businesses take credit cards in the Galapagos).
The hotel is not cheap but you get a lot for your money by local standards. The Communal areas Like Bar, Pool, etc. are very nice and the staff are always nice and helpful. The rooms are simple and not newly renovated but that's just the way it is on the Galapagos Islands. We felt very comfortable and would love to come back!
Puerto Ayora
The room and its bathroom were clean and pretty big. We slept very well since the bed was comfortable and the AC cooled the room to pleasant temperature. Moreover, this hostel had the fastest Wifi of all the places we stayed at in the Galapagos Islands. Lastly, the owner is super nice and he gave us lots of good recommendations.
Puerto Ayora
The wide bed (bigger than the lenght). Which was a pleasant suprise since normally the beds in Ecuador for two are less than 150cm. The owner arranged an early check-out so we could take the morning boat. You can tap for free clean water. This seems to be common at the Galapagos, but still nice.
I ate 3 meals at the hotel all delicious. Every single employee at the hotel was wonderful however the front desk person went above and beyond when i could not figure out which port my Galapagos cruise left from. Thank you so very much i would definitely recommend and would love to return!!!
Hotel was very clean and had comfortable beds. Loved that there was a Galapagos theme and it was in a good location off one of the main avenues. Offered free clean drinking water in a water cooler in multiple locations. I felt like it was a good value for the money.
Stayed here for a night and loved it. The rooms are clean and luxurious for Galapagos. Beautiful property and the staff was very helpful. I even got a metal tumbler bottle as a gift. I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for comfort.
Puerto Ayora
The best Wi-Fi in all of Galapagos! Never failed. It’s even better than where we stayed in Ecuador mainland. We were very impressed - and working remotely with heavy files! Great stable connection. Nice staff, perfect location and comfortable.
