Situated in Sámara, 1 km from Samara Beach, Tuki Tuki Lodge offers accommodation with a terrace and free private parking. The accommodation features a 24-hour front desk and room service for guests. JP is an excellent host and made us feel right at home. He and Hazel were very accommodating and keep the place very clean. The pool and bar area are awesome and Hazel made great breakfast every morning and did our laundry.

And a Soul Shine review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning their delicious brunch! This place serves up some of the best food you’ll find in the area – even in all of Costa Rica. Authentic menu items such as shakshuka, Gypsy King, falafels and avocado toast are all served hot and fresh with crispy salad and yummy tapas on the side. The fresh bread is served warm and melts in your mouth! Soul Shine has everything you need for a perfect stay in the Playa Avellanas/Playa Negra area – comfortable rooms, attentive hosts, amazing food and close to the beach and restaurants. Due to a shortage of rental cars throughout Costa Rica, I was without transportation when I arrived at the hotel. Jeffrey and Shirley gave me a ride to downtown Tamarindo and even took time from their busy schedule to provide a personal tour of the town. Shirley even arranged an Uber taxi for me to travel to my next stop at Coco Beach. They are renovating the hotel and it is now modern, clean and reasonably priced.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The garden and wooden apartment are so beautiful and cosy. Everything well maintained. The swimming pool was really great given the temperatures and humidity in the rainy season. The host Maité is so kind as well and any questions are quickly answered. We didn’t realise when making our booking that there are only two apartments so there is a lot of privacy and quiet though the host lives on the property too so always nearby if needed. The walk to town is definitely doable (about 20min) which we did a couple of times but a car is convenient as well. We saw howler monkeys in the trees nearby, lots of birds, coatis and lizards nearby and there lives a scarlet macaw and crocodiles nearby (which unfortunately we didn’t get to see). In short: just book it, you won’t regret.
