Situated in Lijiang and with Fang Guoyu's Former Residence reachable within 1.2 km, 思法特观景客栈 Sifat Viewing Inn features express check-in and check-out, allergy-free rooms, a garden, free WiFi... I spent weeks researching hotels in Lijiang while considering other options in Shangri-la and HutiaoXia, and finally settled on Sifate Inn in Lijiang for my first 2 nights. The room/Inn/location was so perfect that I extended my stay to 10 nights, and here's why: A. The Inn An ideal base for day trips to Songzanglin Monastery in Shangri-la, a day hike down middle tiger leaping gorge, another day trip to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, and other day trip to Baisha and Shuhe ancient towns. A century-old mansion with a central courtyard where fellow travelers can gather to exchange tips. B. The Room Recently refurbished with antique-style bed and furniture. A heated blanket kept the bed warm during the cold season. Portable air-conditioning allowed me to adjust the room temperature to my liking. Convenient power socket near the sink for boiling a hot noodle soup on rainy days. Four available power sockets in the room for charging my GoPro, iPhone, and DJI drone. In-room router was perfect for uploading videos to the internet. Crystal-clear groundwater from the basin tap when boiled was safe to drink and tasted so good that I preferred it over the bottled water. C. The Location A short walk to the many entrances to Lijiang Old Town. Public Bus number 2 loops around the old town with stops within 100 meters of the Inn. Taxis and Didi rides can drop you right in front of the Inn with ease. Ease of travel on various public transport to the train station and the intercity bus station. D. The Host The Inn is managed by a young couple, Mr. "Cool" (whose surname translates to "Cool" in English) and his wife Katie, along with a team of energetic youth. They were incredibly helpful, providing insider tips such as how to secure business class train tickets or tickets to the snowcap peak of Yulong Mountain. Such tickets are often blocked/held by larger travel agencies until the night before when they are released for sale to the public.

Set in Dali, 4.6 km from Goddess of Mercy Temple, Blue Sea Hotel offers accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. Beautiful view and proximity to Erhai. Friendly and helpful owner who lives there, speaks some English if you don’t speak Chinese.

Set a 2-minute walk from Nanmen Bridge, Lijiang Gemmer Hotel provides rooms with air conditioning in Lijiang Old Town Area. We booked for 3 nights with the massive and lovely room. The location is close to the Lijiang Old Town within 2-3 minutes walk. We got such a nice and warm welcome from the hotel. The owner and the stuff were treated us like a family. I definitely would go back to this town and this hotel again! Thank you for your warm welcome and good take care entire our stay! Lijiang Gemmer Hotel is the best in the town! ❤️❤️

Located in the heart of Kunming, Cachet Boutique Kunming Artime features lavish guestrooms with elegant and comfortable interiors. Helpful staff, nice walkable location to many places, beautiful corner room with expansive windows and very comfortable bed, tasty breakfast with many options. And very interestingly, if a guest orders takeout food, the delivery person places the order in a tie-wearing robot in the lobby, which rolls its way to the elevator, rides it up to the proper floor, and somehow finds the room to deliver it to. Cool!

Situated in the heart of Lijiang Ancient Town, 7 to 8 minutes' walk from Dashuiche and Square Street, Jianshe Inn offers simple Japanese-style accommodation. Beautiful property in a great location inside the old town of Lijiang. Bed was extremely comfy, bathtub in the room was a plus and the views from the second floor were beautiful. Also the host is very friendly and helpful :)

Situated in the Dali Ancient Town near the Er Haimen, Hidden Hotel is located at the starting point of Renmin Road. The very small house from the outside was indeed a very nice private hotel with roof terrace and balcony with the room. The host and her mother were very helpful to us!

Set in Dali Old Town, Dali Old Courtyard-Style Boutique Hotel is 50 metres from Renmin Road and steps from Dali Catholic Cathedral. Cangshan is 3 km away and Erhai Lake is 5 km away. The location was beautiful, the facilities were amazing but the staff on duty were the most helpful! They assisted with food recommendations and places to visit.

Featuring free WiFi, a restaurant and a barbecue, Dali Yanyuan Mountain Retreat offers accommodation in Dali, at the foot of Mount Cangshan. Dali Ancient Town is 5 minutes' walk away. Everyone working at the hotel was so helpful and friendly. They helped us set up transportation to our next destination and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay with them.

Only a short 1-minute stroll from Shuhe Ancient Town, The Bivou features accommodation in local and modern styles combined together. Super amazing service from the staff! kindly assisted us with anything and upgraded our room. Always have drinks and snacks available. Restaurant cafe onsite is delicious. Room is comfortable and cosy set amongst either a courtyard garden or in the farm yard where vegetables are grown.
