We spent two nights at Laguna del Lagarto Eco-Lodge and enjoyed it very much. The lodge offers a truly immersive nature experience, with stunning views from the restaurant that make you feel completely surrounded by the wild. The property is well-maintained and features its own trails, with a variety of daily activities available for booking upon arrival. Whether you're interested in photographic hides, guided walks, or searching for different species, there's always something to do. We can definitely recommend the short caiman tour in the evening and the King Vulture hides for photographers. A special mention to our guide Henry who has been passionately showing people around for over 20 years!
The food at the lodge is excellent. While there's a set menu, we found every meal to be delicious and satisfying. The quality of the food was a pleasant surprise and added to the overall enjoyment of our stay.

this is a very special place. it is perfect for nature lovers, it is quiet and located within a lush and maintained surrounding with a huge communal nice space with a porch where you can watch a variety of birds that we didn't even see in reserves. there is a
kitchen that you can freely use and attractions around like the poas volcan and del toro falls. the host is a lovely person who is more than willing to help with whatever you need from finding attractions around to helping with coffee making and instructions to watch the wildlife. don't expect a fancy cabin but a basic and clean one, also there is great wifi around the whole property. the pictures do not do this place justice! and if we ever visit Costa Rica again we are sure to pay a visit to this charming place

Fire flys were a bonus. Great food and friendly staff.
Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
The location set in the rainforest is so beautiful.
While most of the route to the lodge is now paved, the last few kilometres is still on a gravel track. You feel that you are at one with nature.
As a wildlife photographer I feel this is one of the best lodges to capture the amazing birds that visit the feeders
Adolpho made us feel extremely welcome
Located in Boca Tapata. This family run lodge with son Allen as a very knowledgeable nature and bird guide. Chef Mother Cynthia cooked delicious meals which included some ingredients from their organic garden tended by Father Juan Carlos. Fruit near the patio attracted a variety of colorful birds including a Toucan creating wonderful bird viewing and photo opportunities.
The special bedroom, in the lodge. The friendliness of the family. They’re really helpful and accommodating. The food is also really good. Did a tour with them, highly recommend.
We stayed in the bungalow which was a wonderful experience. You could hear the sounds of the animals at night and early morning. The lodge is run by a friendly family. The wife can cook very well. We loved breakfast and dinner. It was delicious.
perfect location at the jungle. good food as buffet. children are welcome too. reasonable prices considering to be in the middle of nowhere.
tours were nice too, can recommend the night walk and caiman tour, haven’t done anything else. free Kanu at the lagoon.
access to the lodge is not as difficult than thought. route 205 is fully sealed and last but unsealed but manageable by car.
Great place for photographers! The staff members were extremely helpful and organised different activities for us. We also enjoyed our meals in the lodge - every meal was so delicious.
if. You are a photographer with a giant lens who does not want to move off the deck thus is your place…orherwise go elsewhere. Good reviews reflect former fame as a birding destination. Food was bland and overpriced. Our room had no cross ventilation and was very hot. Trails were ankle deep mud. A large photo tour hogged all the deck space so we left everyday to visit other losges with better food and trails. Offered tours were more expensive than other lodges.
