Room is what you expect from standard Japanese business hotel. The TVs show you how busy the public bath is and if the washer and dryers are occupied. WiFi was also pretty good.
Free breakfast was great. I read another review that said there wasn’t a lot of variety, but there was very good variety in my opinion for a free breakfast. Good mix of Japanese and Western items. It gets pretty busy, though.
The hotel is in Yamagata station and had very easy access to. Once you get out the train gates there are signs for the hotel (literally a 2 min or less walk). The staff was really kind and helpful (especially since we didn’t speak much Japanese) . The room was clean and comfortable. I’m very particular with Japanese hotel bathrooms since they can be cramped (I hate how close the toilet ,sink and shower is in typical Japanese hotels), but this hotel bathroom was more spacious and comfortable to move around in
I love that it is super close to the station and there is a direct passage from Yamagata station to this hotel, so you dont need to go down to the main street. I also like the Yamagata city view from our room
A modern hotel with very nice view to the surrounding mountains. Delicious breakfast. Within short walk from Yamagata station. Even though the staff's English is not so good, I do appreciate all the efforts they tried to cope the communication barrier. They really tried their best to serve us.
Hotel Castle is 8 minutes walk from Yamagata Station. There are nearby restaurants and convenience stores in the area. The service bath salt was great! There were a lot of selection to choose from!
7 min walk from Yamagata Station that has busses for Zao Onsen Ski Resort. Has public coin laundry at the hotel in certain floors, can hold luggage and baggage for you while you other trips and walking distance to bars and cafes.
best location for train travelers. the hotel is right next to the shinkansen exit. you can say the hotel is in the yamagata station. bus stop for zao onsen right in front of the hotel. if you hold a jr pass dinner in yonezawa is just 30 minutes away by the shinkansen, yonezawa beef is one of the best.
this very same station connecting to ginzan onsen, yamadera etc. a convenient store is at the hotel door step. restaurants and many izakaya is within walking distance.
+ location was excellent (just a 1-2min walk from/to Yamagata station and the bus stop to Zao is in front of the hotel)
+ bed and pillow were comfortable
