There was so much to like, but it started with the staff being fantastic and helpful. Then there is the minimalist, inviting design of the property and the rooms. Very aesthetically pleasing and with updated features re: lighting, shade screens, air bubble baths, mini kitchens with utensils/plateware to rent, a tatami section in the family room, etc. (The family room was not an easy find for 4 people to all have beds and was a big reason I chose Gion Elite Terrace tbh.) They had free coffee/tea service 24/7, free laundry service 24/7 (although there was considerable back up some evenings as the 2 washing machines took 4+ hours to do the wash/dry cycle and the separate dryer took a long time to dry well. Best to do the wash only cycle on the washing machines per one of the employees, then move to the dryer.) When we needed additional duvets, because the room was cold for most of my family, they obliged quickly. (That was my doing as I am always hot and had the air con on too cold for them. By the way, the a/c works very well and is a minisplit system.) They also had complimentary toiletries such as razors, toothbrushes, hair bands, etc. The location did have nearby sites to visit, shopping options, multiple restaurant options, a movie theater, and convenience stores, all within walking distance. There were several bus lines just up at the corner for connecting to the train stations, There is an elevator for ease of getting to the upper floors, and the walls are rather sound proof as we rarely heard other guests, and usually only the ones above us. There was a lovely dining area for breakfast and having coffee as well. If we return to Kyoto, this will be our first choice as to where to stay.

It is worth mentioning that staffs here are so friendly. Their genuine smile made me feel warm-hearted. The twin room are relatively spacious than most of other hotels at this price in Japan, so it is a great deal. It is also located in nice place, where two nearby subway stations are within walking distance and you can easily get to commercial street and food street.

Staff was very helpful. They held our bags before and after we checked in, recommended restaurants, and explained how all the technology in the room was operated.
