Excellent location, walking distance from the train station, a 7-eleven around the corner. Very spacious rooms for Japan. The bed was SUPER comfortable and foot massager in our room was a FANTASTIC added bonus! Check-in process was super quick and easy and the dinasaur clerks were adorable! Overall, if I travel to Japan again, I would absolutely book this hotel again.

The staff were very helpful during check-in and when arranging for luggage forwarding to our next hotel. We liked the location inside the Teramachi covered market, it was always easy to find a good restaurant. It was also convenient to several bus stops and subway lines for reaching all the major sights. The soundproofing is quite good; with the window shut, I couldn't hear any noise from the market outside, and slept very well. (However, one night I could hear another guest using the TV in the next room.) Although the room was small, as expected, the lounge space on the second floor was really wonderful. It was a good place to work with our laptops and enjoy free coffee and soda.
Right across the street from Kyoto Station, Hotel New Hankyu features 5 restaurants, a tour desk and a 24-hour front desk. Free WiFi is available throughout the entire property.

Kyoto is a wonderful city with many beautiful locations to see. There are stunning temples with magnificent parks and gardens, immaculately kept. We loved the wooded hills surrounding the city. One day we were walking through the bamboo forest of Arashiyama; another day we at the Kiyomizu-dera temple, perched in the hills overlooking Kyoto.
The food was great, especially the ramen and gyoza dumplings.
Getting around was very easy. Usually we bought a day pass for the subway or subway and train The public transport system is excellent.

Loved Kyoto, so much more relaxing than Tokyo and the transportation around the city and beyond was so easy. Loved the older population assisting at bus stops, shops and information. The world could take a leaf out of Kyoto's book. :)

Of all the cities in Japan, Kyoto is a family favourite.
Of all the cities in Japan, Kyoto is a family favourite. Much more human-scale and easy to navigate than Tokyo, it also has so much culture and historical content as well as its modern side and shopping that it has something for everyone. Picking highlights is almost a foolish venture as it is just incredible - the city contains 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites which is more than all but a few countries. That says it all really.

Kyoto was our favourite city in Japan.
Kyoto was our favourite city in Japan. It has many beautiful temples, shrines and gardens to visit and enjoy. It has many delicious gluten-free restaurants and bakeries. Transit is easy. Gion can get busy in the day when the tour buses arrive, but then its quieter at night.
The staff are super information.
The wifi are strong, 3minute walk to subway station, 3mins walk to bus station.
5 mins walk to 7-11, 8 mins walk to family mark, so the location is basically the best. Gojo station only one station to Kyoto Station, so it is super convenient.
Microwave at the lobby, laundry just 10 mins walk away from hotel
The hotel room is okay for 2 people. but we got big luggage so its quite difficult to open up.
Boy was I happy with this hotel! We had a big room, very spacious and we could even leave the luggage open. Location is amazing, literally 2/3 min away from train station. Starbucks, 7 eleven, several shops around. That was the best location. Only problem was, that I was expecting that the next hotels would be as good as and they failed. Staff is super friendly and always willing to help with whatever you might need.
The hotel is lovely with so many amenities. This is the best hotel we have stayed at for their amenities. Coffee in the morning, drinks in the afternoon and snacks and a great onsen to use. Breakfast was good although not as much selection of western food. Very close to the station and easy to get to some places. The centre is a little further out but lots of transport options
Decent hotel within a 10 minute walk of Kyoto station. The hotel was pleasant, the room was adequately sized and serviceable, cheap meals available in the lobby. Probably the best part was the free self serve all you can drink happy hour each evening and unlimited tea and coffee. Happy travellers :)
This is a true boutique hotel with personal care for each guest! The staff and manager are exceptional -friendly, forthcoming and providing input and ideas that make your stay a success. We had support with reservation of garden entry, bus schedules and restaurants. Best I ever experienced!
