- This hotel is beautiful, cozy and so peaceful. From the room design to the lobby and restaurant, always with a view of the serene courtyard - I wish I could have stayed longer just to relax and take in the atmosphere a few more days.
- The location is excellent, with just a 10 minute walk to the Kintetsu train station with connections to Kyoto, Osaka and more. Also in walking distance are most of Nara’s sights: Naramachi with lots of shops, restaurants and breweries, many shrines and temples, and Nara Park (with deer hanging out right outside the hotel doors). The pagoda was under construction when we stayed but would have been a beautiful view right from the rooftop terrace.
- The food was delicious. I still dream about the onigiri rice balls we had for breakfast. Unlimited tea, coffee, juices, beer, whisky soda and other drinks was really nice to have.
- The wood chip foot bath was an intriguing new experience and very nice after a long day of walking around town.
- It was great to be able to choose the level and frequency of housekeeping.
- The included walking tour was great; our guide showed us beautiful spots to take photos and pointed out interesting facts that we would have missed otherwise.
- My husband smokes and was very appreciative of the designated spot on the rooftop where he could go without bothering anyone.
- The shower gel, shampoo and conditioner were so nice. I really felt a difference in how soft my hair was after I used it.
- The pyjamas were the most comfortable. I wish I could have bought a pair to bring home!
- The hotel’s focus on sustainability.
- The chickens.

The meager staff were gracious and eager to please. The room was large and comfortable, the shower and bath were first rate.

You might want to go to Himuro Shrine (氷室神社) for a quieter location to admire the cherry blossoms (during spring) and to feed the deer with less competition from other tourists! The deer may be more aggressive though, since they are more hungry (due to less tourists in the area feeding them).

Is very busy and packed with tourists in peak season. The deer closer the entrance are very aggressive so will charge you and bite your clothes to get biscuits. Go further up the park to get some peace and quiet and meet calmer deer.
Also, some tourists will feed wrappers and ice cream to the deer thinking it is funny. If you see this, please tell them not to. The deer will get sick.

Don't miss Deer Park!
Don't miss Deer Park! Buy deer crackers and the deer will bow in response to your bow for a cracker. The whole park is lovely with lots of buildings and things to see. Spend most of the day here, then get green tea ice cream and some ramen! We stayed across the street at the Nara Visitor Center and it was a perfect location!

Great location, close to the station, restaurants and just a nice walk up to Nara park. The hotel was clean and modern, one of the nicest rooms we stayed in on our whole trip!!! It didn’t feel dated as some Japanese hotel rooms do. The staff were lovely too.
Hotel right in the heart of Nara park. Sleeping in an establishment that is surrounded by beautiful nature and mesmerizing deers. More of a cozy feeling. When I arrived, staff made me feel like I came to stay at my old friend's house rather than a big business franchise. Introduced me to nearby touristic places and were eager to answer any questions that arise, both in English and Japanese. I would definitely stay here in the future.
This is an excellent traditional Japanese hotel. Staff were fantastic, and the Kaiseki dinner that we had was one of the highlights of our trip. It is in a perfect location between the train station and Nara Park. Highly recommend.
The location is just perfect to walk around Nara Park and other famous spots. Room was pretty big especially compared to other hotels in Japan! Everything is clean! I`d love to stay here again someday :)
Very nice hotel. Front desk staff was friendly and welcoming.
Located in the center of Nara with many shops and restaurants nearby. Was less than a 10 minute walk to Nara Park. And Nara Station was 1 block away.
Rooms were on the small side, but this is typical of Japan hotels. They were modern and clean.
Very close to Nara JR station. Easy to transport to other cities like Osaka or Kyoto. There are many convenient stores around. Able to walk to Nara park and shopping center. If you don’t want to walk, the bus station is also very close. The room is clean. They give you a bottle of water everyday which most of hotels in Japan don’t. The hot spring bath is also nice. Everything’s worth my money.
The receptionist was super nice even though I was 5 minutes late to check in since I got lost navigating train stations. The room itself was spacious, clean, and I personally slept well on the bed there. I also walked to Nara Park from the hotel, so it's at a good location. This place was definitely one of my favorite stays in my 2 week Japan trip and it was probably one of the lowest-costing ones too.
The hotel is kind of new; the shower, tub, and toilet in our room are kind of new. The location is excellent, within walking distance to Nara Park, main shopping/restaurant streets, train stations, and bus stops. I don't speak Japanese; I used a translator app on my smart phone to communicate with the staff during check-in and everything went well.
