Excellent staff, rooms are beautiful and well kept, great location & close to a subway station. Couldn’t recommend enough. Great experience all around. They hold onto your bags if you arrive prior to check-in/stay longer beyond check-out. Great assortment of complimentary drinks & bread/snacks throughout the day. Tons of great restaurants walking distance. FYI, you will have to be comfortable walking about 20 mins each way to Gion district/the major shopping area. We liked the walking because it was a nice way to explore Kyoto. The Staff made us feel extra special. Will stay here again!

Kinkaku-ji Temple
This Zen Buddhist temple is named after its gleaming centrepiece, the Kinkaku-ji pavilion. This three-tiered tower is coated in gold foil, which gives off a luxuriant gleam amongst the backdrop of pine trees. To see Kinkaku-ji at its radiant best, stroll around the pond at sunset, when the horizon’s glow illuminates the gold in the twilight.

If you have seen its photo on the net then you have seen this temple. Its location is far from public transportation and only taxi or city bus access which makes it a slog to get there for little reward. I avoid taking tours there and often recommend people not to waste half a day going there and back

Kinkaku-ji Temple, also known as the Golden Pavilion, is one of the most iconic landmarks in Kyoto, Japan. It is a Zen Buddhist temple that is covered in gold leaf, and it is located on a picturesque lake.
I visited Kinkaku-ji Temple recently, and I was absolutely blown away. The temple is even more beautiful than I imagined. The gold leaf gleams in the sunlight, and the reflection in the lake is simply stunning.
I also enjoyed walking around the temple grounds. The gardens are well-maintained and there are a number of other interesting buildings and exhibits to see.
Overall, I had a wonderful time at Kinkaku-ji Temple. It is a must-see for anyone visiting Kyoto.

The most touristy stop in Kyoto that felt more like an amusement park than a temple or shrine. However, the shrine is so stunning that it's hard to complain. Don't expect much more out of this location than a few great photos of a stunning temple.

Try to go early or on a rainy day, otherwise you have to wait in long lines to take a photo, especially if it's sunny, because literally everyone and their dog visits there. But it truly is stunning and beautiful.

If you can visit in the moths of May/June, you'll be able to see the temple with nice weather and beautiful skies. Also, if you arrive in the morning, you'll be able to have great places to take pictures for yourself.

It's neat to see and it's very golden, but there's not much else to see other than taking the typical shot of the building. This place is a little over-hyped in my opinion and they are much more beautiful things to see in Kyoto, but I felt like I had to go because it's one of the main things to see in Kyoto.
It's pretty easy to get here by bus. I was intimidated by the bus system at first, but there's no need to be. Just use Google Maps for directions and you'll be fine :)
