Piazza San Marco
If you want to dig a bit deeper into Agrigento’s glittering history, this is the place to come. The Regional Archaeological Museum is full of ancient artefacts from the area’s Hellenic past, each one supported by a fascinating back story. It’s the perfect complement to your visit to the Valley of the Temples.

Probably the most beautiful square in the world!
Probably the most beautiful square in the world! Very expensive to get coffee etc on the square itself be prepared to pay upward of 15 euro for a beverage and 25 euro for a cocktail in some cafes, but plenty of places cheaper nearby. I’d recommend going during carnival season as when everyone is wandering around in their costumes it’s like going back in time. The architecture is stunning. You can go inside the basilica and doges palace etc, admission fee approximately €15 per entry and the queues can be long so if it’s something you’re interested in perhaps pre book online to get a better deal and skip the line. The architecture is stunning with so many details everywhere you look but also the line of Murano glass chandeliers looks fab at night.

Visit in the evenings, after the cruise-boat tourists have departed and the pigeons have flown to roost, and see it as it truly is. Just because something is popular doesn't mean it should be avoided. Just don't go during the most crowded times, and see for yourself why it became popular in the first place

Many shops and few restaurants on the walkway around St Marco. They are super expensive. On the side street are shops that are cheaper. You can visit the Clock tower for Euro 10. There is a lift to take you atop. Great views from above. No need to buy advance tickets on line which charge you double the entry cost. The Basilica entrance costs Euro 3 and the cost to the rooftop and museum costs Euro 7. Worth a visit. On the side by the waterfront is the entrance to the Dogi palace. Has impressive paintings and rooms. Entrance is Eur 30. Seniors over 65 pay at half price. Well worth a visit.

wonderful all around - but if you sit down, be prepared to pay insane prices (easily double the usual for drinks etc.). Although the ambience (and the life music) in many places is worth it if you don't mind the extra dollar

Best to book one of the museum or church passes in advance to avoid the queues which can be very long. The piazza is always VERY busy but, with a short walk, you can easily escape to much quieter locations for a relaxing spritz or coffee.

I had a night I will never forget at Piazza San Marco.
I had a night I will never forget at Piazza San Marco. It was a beautiful November night, the sky was indigo blue, the weather was perfect, the moon was full, and small helicopter like whirling toys were being shot from rubber band sling shots into the night sky enhancing the magic of this evening. There was a band playing the most beautiful Italian music under an awning. Here I had a moment of amazement. The sights, the atmosphere, the music, I WAS Here ! Finally, I made it to Italy. And the music I had imagined, the Italian music of my ancestors, was floating through the air, into the beautiful blue nights sky. I was an Italian American in Italy, finally, and somehow, I felt at home. I smiled and said to myself out loud, this is amazing! I turned to my 21-year-old son and said, "You have to dance with me". A wide-eyed expression came over his face as he quickly said, NO." He (and I) aren't the Dancy type. I laughed out loud, and said, "oh yes you are". I looked to my right and there were two women dancing together. I said, 'look, those ladies are dancing"! Then I told him how much I loved to dance with my Dad. He loved to dance with his daughters, all four of them. My mother would always sit one out to let my dad two step. three step across the dance floor. I said to my son , " one day you are going to have a girlfriend, then a wife, and maybe (hopefully) a daughter, and I want you to be the husband and dad who dances with his girls, because it is a beautiful feeling for a girl to dance with her Daddy. Then we danced. I showed him the two step, three step I remembered learning from my dad. It was a moment. The music was real. And I was dancing in Venice with my favorite guy- my son. Check that one off my bucket list. Amazing.

From check in to check out, our experience at Relais Venezia was 10/10. The hotel has been recently renovated and is beautiful. The room was large and comfortable with a large ensuite bathroom. Every detail was perfect. We enjoyed a great breakfast every morning with fresh coffee, croissants, buns, fruit, etc. The hotel staff were very helpful and went above and beyond to answer our questions and provide information and restaurant recommendations. The location of Relais Venezia is very good - so close to Piazza San Marco.
Our stay at the Hotel Firenze exceeded our expectations. The room and bathroom were the perfect size for a couple and very clean. The staff was very kind, and in addition to offering us a welcome aperitif on the terrace with a view of the Piazza San Marco bell tower, they also gave us many tips on unexplored places to visit. I highly recommend it. We will definitely be back.
It’s an amazing apartment , honestly . So close to piazza san marco and central Venice , super clean and cozy and the staff more than helpful honestly !
Liked that the location was close to nice cafes and restaurants. Also, Dorsoduro is a quieter area than the extremely popular Piazza San Marco.
The apartment was extremely clean! Appreciated that there was a washing machine in the apartment.
The owner was very welcoming. Recommended a few restaurants for us. Great choice to stay in Venice.
We were meet by friendly staff, and shown around the apartment. It is close to the train and bus station, about 30 mins walk to Piazza San Marco, lots of great restaurants near by
The location of the hotel is great, very close to Piazza San Marco and other important museums. The breakfast was generous and the hotel room spacious. The concierge team are very hospitable and helped us with everything we needed. The hotel overlooks a small canal, so the boat can take you/pick you up from there (when it's not a high tide). The rooftop terrace is lovely to watch the sunset.
Very spacious and well equipped apartment. Really quiet in an excellent location, just 5 minutes walk from waterbus and 20 minutes walk from Piazza San Marco.
Jess the hostess was very friendly and helped me with all needs: late check-in, luggage storage, tips on good restaurants and even an umbrella!
Lovely, well run family hotel in a fantastic neighbourhood of Venice.. Our room had air condition and we could access a communal terrace right above the canal. Heaps of small piazzas , little cosy restaurants all around and less than 1/2 hour walk to Piazza San Marco.
Superb location, and really well arranged apartment. It really was just a few minutes’ walk from piazza San Marco, but despite this it was a quiet place to stay and big enough for the 4 of us. The apartment had all the facilities we needed for our time in Venice. And our host was very helpful and clear with communication.
