The staff was so friendly, the room was super clean, and everything was provided as described on the website. I even asked for an iron and they kindly handed it to me. The bathroom, especially the bathtub was super good! There was a washing machine that made my trip easy. It felt like you were home. The cleaning staff were super good.

Right on the historic main square of České Budějovice, Grandhotel Zvon is an elegant and stylish 4-star superior boutique hotel with a tradition dating back to 1533.

Great location right on the main square. We were originally placed in top floor room right below the roof, AC not working well and far too hot in the summer. Receptionist was really flexible and moved us to another room, where everything was perfect. Also hotel restaurant was very good and looked quite popular.

Přemysl Otakar II Square

Almost as old as the town itself, Premysla Otakara II Square has been the hub of České Budějovice for centuries. Renaissance and Baroque structures line each aspect, with the impressive Town Hall dominating the southwest corner. The ‘erratic boulder’ – an oddly-shaped cobblestone marking the old gallows – is found by the fountain. Cross it at night and legend says you’ll never find your way home.

This is the largest square in Europe and where the Americans met the Russians on New Years Day, 1945. The Grand Hotel Zvon was used by the American general as a base. Look for the erratic stone a few feet south-east of the fountain. This large stone dates back to the 1200s and was left in place when they redid the stones in the 1800s. Legend says if you step on it after midnight, you won't find your way home until the sun rises.
