Absolutely loved the carefully and skilfully made breakfast each day, served in beautiful surroundings. Bed and bedding were luxurious, and rooms are so tastefully appointed. The artwork throughout the house is stunning, as are the many fine pieces of furniture and rugs, lamps and the like. A pleasure to be in such an atmosphere.

A favourite as far as Alt hotels go in particular & I’ve stayed at quite a few over the years travelling. 🤍Adored the creative touches so much! The puffin glasswork in the room, the photo collage in the lobby, the tiny garden & picnic table outside. Although the room is very small the use of space is smart. Customer service was lovely.

Fabulous location - within walking distance of everything and everywhere I wanted to explore. Safe area to walk at night. Although close to the George Street Festival I did not hear any noise from the street outside or the music from the festival. Rooms very attractive @nd comfortable. Free wifi great. Kim and Nick wonderful hosts. Will definitely stay at this property again.
I like the roof top rooms, very creative, there was a nice bathroom, big TV and all amenities. It's the best place in close walking distance to George street ;) or city exploration.
Great location - easily walkable to Water and George streets, as well as Signal Hill. Good local amenities nearby - coffee shops, restaurants and such. DoubleTree was great, except the television issue described below.
The ALT Hotel in St. John's Newfoundland, is located on the harbour in the heart of Jelly Bean Row. It's a photographer's paradise. My small dog, Sparky, and I roamed the streets snapping photographs of the wonderfully coloured houses and stores. The hotel is also close to the famous George Street the location of nightly live musical performances and Water Street with its vast selection of good restaurants. Loved the neighbourhood! Lynda L. Lock (author of the Isla Mujeres Mysteries and also the Death in the Vineyards Mysteries).
Room was large and well furnished. No problem walking up stairs to third floor. Breakfast in lovely dining room of the mansion. Choice of cereal and a few fresh pastries.
The caretaker was around checking on things and he was very friendly and helpful.
His phone number was available if guests needed to contact him.
Street was quiet even though it is right downtown and easy walk to the harbour and downtown sites such as George street. Bed was very comfortable.
Love this hotel, so close to everything downtown. St. John's Harbour is right there within walking distance for a stroller, the Keg is about 5 minutes away, as is George Street. Fabulous location.
