This Ramada by Wyndham St. John's hotel is located close to the O'Leary Business Park, a 10-minute drive from downtown.

Chelsea , the front desk manager, is great. Keep her and promo her. She answered ALL my questions within 3 minutes. She made me feel welcome, and not foreign/ new to town. The house keeper is helpful, also my room was very clean after her cleaning.

Alt Hotel St. John's, hotel in St. John's

Alt Hotel St. John's has a fitness centre, terrace, a restaurant and bar in St. John's. This 3-star hotel offers a 24-hour front desk, a business centre and free WiFi.

A favourite as far as Alt hotels go in particular & I’ve stayed at quite a few over the years travelling. 🤍Adored the creative touches so much! The puffin glasswork in the room, the photo collage in the lobby, the tiny garden & picnic table outside. Although the room is very small the use of space is smart. Customer service was lovely.

St John's is a vibrant city.

St John's is a vibrant city. People are very kind and helpful. I ate at St John's Fish Exchange, Sprouts, Gingerroot and Duke of Duckworth. The Alt Hotel where I got picked up for my day trip has a great breakfast. I walked from McKay Manor to the Rooms Museum which was amazing and great to have lunch at. I did go on a great 4 hour day excursion to see the local area with St John's Tour w Celebrity Guide which included lunch.

You need to stay in St John's for at least a few days to take in all of the spots either before you branch out or towards the end. I generally don't dine in the place I stay for whatever reason but Blue on Water are serious about their food and eating there cannot be missed. Sully keeps it real and makes great suggestions along with his staff to were else to visit.

    In St.

In St. John's we really enjoyed visiting the small area called Quidi Vidi and the Quidi Vidi Brewing Company where they now have a restaurant with good food and views. However, you have to park outside the small area and walk in. But it's definitely worth it and not too far! There were also some food wagons and washrooms. There were lots of souvenir shops downtown and restaurants. The main street was closed off to traffic during the day which was nice for pedestrians but not for drivers. Signal Hill offered a fantastic view and before you get to the top was a visitors centre with washrooms (none at the Cabot Tower). There is parking by the tower but it's sometimes full. You can park at the visitor's centre but it's quite a walk uphill. Some people just drove around the parking lot until a spot became available. Driving in St. Johns could be difficult as a number of streets sometimes converge or change names as you go. The signage isn't the best. Make sure you have a good, up-to-date map of the city and someone who can help the driver navigate. We didn't use GPS so I don't know how that would work. Gower Street has the most amount of colourful houses on it. The locals call them the row houses (or something like that) but other folks call them the Jelly Bean Houses. George St., one street up from the main street which is Water Street, is a short street totally of pubs. Mount Pearl is a smaller city right beside St. John's and has accommodations too. From St. John's you can get to a number of other places of interest so it's a good place to be based for awhile. But there is SO much more to see in Newfoundland. Give yourself at least 2 1/2 weeks and drive across to Gross Morne National Park then up to L'Anse aux Meadows where the Vikings first landed in North America over 1,000 years ago. Visit Twillingate and Trinity. The scenery is magnificent and the people are wonderful!

The waterfront and access to whale watching and bird viewing were excellent features. The variety of pubs with live music was excellent and the seafood on offer at area restaurants was a real plus.

I grew up in St. John's and it is a great spot for a visit.

I grew up in St. John's and it is a great spot for a visit. The facilities for tourists have really increased over the last 20 years and there are a lot of great restaurants and shops for tourists to experience. The sites in a city that is 400 years old are quite varied and there is ready access to nature visiting sites as well within an hour of the city core. Pack for pretty variable weather that trends to cooler and damper.

The city offers so much history and with a wonderful presentation at The Rooms. We had a fun screeched in ceremony at Christians with skipper Lukey. The view from signal Hill shows it all. Cape spear and Quidi Vidi can not be missed as well. Especially having lunch at the Mallard Cottage and an Iceberg at the brew company. The waterfront in St. John’s is very interesting and worth the walk.

Centrally-located with comfortable rooms - spacious and quiet, with original decor. The staff were very helpful, especially after booking-com had somehow mixed-up our reservation. Everyone was courteous and friendly - an excellent introduction to Newfoundland hospitality.
