This is a quant bed/breakfast/tavern. We had a great dinner and drinks when we arrived and breakfast the next morning was cooked to order and excellent. The room was charming. You have the climb the stairs to get around this historic building, but the rooms were nice. The location is right in the middle of this historic town of Hexham. It was a great spot to stay when touring Hadrian's wall.

First, the bed and pillows were maybe the softest, most comfortable I've ever experienced. Really. Next, the staff was amazing: friendly, congenial, informative, caring and responsive. Also, the bathroom and shower were first rate... best of our trip. The shower water always came out hot and strong! Also, the place was so very, very quiet. Lastly, the food served at the downstairs restaurant was really, truly good. We were so impressed with the Sauteed Mushrooms in Garlic Sauce on Chibatta... and the Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Absolutely everything, if you have never stayed in a Castle you need to come here. We had one of the unique rooms and we was both balled over, true and real British history. The story of the place is also very interesting. Fine dining is also available for dinner, and the breakfast was first class.

Absolutely beautiful setting. We stayed in the Percy room and the bed was really comfortable. Sitting in the grounds with a drink on a summer evening was a highlight. The beautiful Peacocks add to the grandeur. We had dinner in the main restaurant and the food was fantastic and reasonably priced. I had the scallops and then Stone Bass. Both were delicious. Crepe Suzette finished at the table which was a lovely touch. Wine list also very reasonable.

A most enjoyable stay. The staff were friendly and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was large and pleasant with a large ensuite and comfortable bed. The water pressure in the shower was one of the best we have experienced. The breakfast baps were a real winner. Great central location and close to Hadrian’s wall and a good laundromat at Haltwhistle.

We had a wonderful stay at the Sun Inn the Location was just perfect for us. Our room could not have been better everything we needed was available. We had a really enjoyable evening meal and spent time in the wonderful Beer Garden. Our Hosts made us so welcome and could not have been more helpful. In the morning we had a lovely Breakfast with a really nice selection to choose from. We will be back to visit the Sun Inn next time we visit Northumberland.
