This houseboat is moored in the centre of the city, yet it is a very quiet location. The Westerdok has a dead end for cars. Only bicycles and pedestrians pass by, and boats of course, and ducks and swans and other water birds. The studio is located at the end of my houseboat.The studio is centrally heated and cozy and warm during even the coldest winter days. The roof terrace is private and not meant for guests, but 10 meters away is the beautiful terrace of cafe Hoogendam, serving terrific coffee and food. I can offer a private boat tour with my 20 ft. dinghy, showing you canals where the regular tourist boats cannot go. Great fun! This is a non smoking studio, not meant for drunk or cannabis crazed youngsters.
I am a 68 years old musician, singing and playing the violin and guitar (the separating wall has been made soundproof, so you won't hear any of that). I'll gladly inform you, according to your taste, about museums, architecture, hotspots etc.
The Westerdok is right next to the famous 'Jordaan' area. Narrow old streets with lots of little bars, restaurants, art galleries etc. Here is also the famous 'Noordermarkt, on saturdays and mondays. The atmosphere is still authentic and cozy. Across the Westerdok is 'Prinseneiland', a beautiful and dreamy part of old Amsterdam with wooden drawbridges, small public gardens and silence......
