A 5-minute drive from the spectacular Takachiho Gorge, Ryokan Shinsen offers rooms with a Japanese-style decor and free Wi-Fi, some of which have open-air baths. Featuring a beautiful serene Zen garden and typical walkways with pebbles and stepping stones, Shinsen Ryokan offers a soothing and nostalgic Japanese environment. The entire ryokan has tatami (woven mat) floors, and a natural acoustic device welcomes guests with gentle sounds at the entrance of their room. A Japanese breakfast and a traditional multi-course meal with local seasonal dishes is presented at Tearoom Wabisuke. The dining area has open hearths and seating cushions on the tatami (woven mat) floor, and chairs are available upon request. Ryokan Shinsen is a 20-minute drive from Takachiho Jinja Shrine, and the sea of clouds at Kunimi-ga-Oka or 'Nirvana in Aso' can be visited a 15-minute drive away.Takachiho Bus Centre is a 10-minute walk away, while Kumamoto Airport is within a 90-minute drive.

What time do I have to arrive for dinner?
Private dinning room will be close at 21:00, so it is better to start your dinner before 19:00. The "Yokagura ( traditional dance for harvest )" will show at Takachiho Shrine every night from 20:00 to 21:00.
