Neighbourhood information

Chikusenso is nestled within Zao Quasi-National Park, a renowned mountainous region in the Tohoku area. This park, stretching approximately 40 kilometers, is composed of old and new volcanic formations. Here, you'll find stunning landscapes, including the towering Iwasaki Rock and breathtaking gorges. North Zao showcases ancient volcanic terrains, while Central Zao is home to the iconic volcanic lake, Okama, and magnificent waterfalls. South Zao boasts vast wetlands and the world-famous winter spectacle of snow monsters. Located near the starting point of Zao ECOLINE, a scenic road connecting Miyagi and Yamagata prefectures, Chikusenso is a popular base for exploring the beauty of Zao.
