It’s so hard to find hotel rooms that are completely dark at night. To have a nice night of sleep I need a super dark room to sleep and thanks to them I slept like a baby. There was a lot of lights if I wanted to turn it on (really good for make up) but if I wanted to sleep it was as dark as possible. The bed was also super comfortable.
The way they design the room was so smart and made the room looks bigger than it was. We had more than enough space for our things. It was super spacious. I have a lot of make up and it was really easy to do with the nice table and nice table Mirror that they provide.
I have a lot of hair, a lot and usually the hotel hairdryer don’t work for my hair. They all take ages to dry, but theirs was pretty good. Also de amenities were of such a nice quality.
The location is also perfect, close to the station and with a lot of restaurants and shops around it. We always walked everywhere.
Set in Sendai, 17 km from Shiogama Shrine, Hotel GrandBach Sendai features views of the city.

Location is good, easy to access. Great value for money, in that parking is included, and it's much cheaper than hotels right in the heart of Sendai City. Lots of parking available. Plenty of food shops in the area - not too far away if you don't mind a short walk. Rooms are comfortable. Loved the quilt on the bed. Loved that the sheets weren't fully tucked in down the sides like in most hotels. Loved the Japanese style pillows. Even though the bed was firm, it was comfortable. I don't usually like firm beds and often have difficulty sleeping on such a firm bed, but it was ok and I slept well. Onsen (public bath) was nice. Room size is decent, but not large enough for any more than 1 suitcase. Definitely liked it here and have already booked another stay at this same hotel.

Beautiful city, plenty of trees and shade and I loved the arcade shopping streets. There's lots of open spaces and places to grab a seat, and all of the food I had was excellent.
I visited Aoba Castle ruins and really enjoyed the walk, and there's excellent views of the city. I think Sendai is a great choice for a short break.

Great town.
Great town. Nice size - big but but very big, small but only incomprison to very big places - ie more laid back than Tokyo and Osaka etc but more going on than a (picturesque) paddy field. Try the Gyu-tongue set ( or go home really, it is the local thing. very nice)

Unfortunately I was thinking of another hotel when I did my initial review so I badly underscored this hotel. My apologies to Hotel GrandBach - it is an outstanding hotel worthy of a 10 and not the 7 I gave it. Beautiful hotel, modern, clean, wonderful atmosphere, great facilities, amazing onsen, live music, free snacks and beverages in the lounge, friendly and helpful staff, easy location - I can’t commend it more.

Sendai is known as the City of Trees - and for good reason.
Sendai is known as the City of Trees - and for good reason. There's an insane amount of massively large and tall cedar trees everywhere! It's a very easily walkable city and if you need to go to parts beyond there's great transport links, either via the metro, overland train (JR), trams, or even the Sendai City Loople Bus - which takes you around to about a half dozen major attractions - think hop on / hop off.
Must see spots in Sendai are Rinnouji Temple, Zuihoden Mausoleum, Sendai Castle (Aoba Castle), and a little further out of the city (about an hour by train) is Yamadera Temple - not to be missed!
The city is centred around the massive train station in the centre of town and it does not disappoint. There's floors of shopping, restaurants, groceries, fancy food vendors, anything you could want. If you can't find anything in the labyrinthian corridors of the station, venture outside to the over 2500 restaurants and bars. I challenge you to not find something - anything - to satiate yourself with.
We were in the hotel for the New year and there were typical japanese dishes of New year and also specialties of Sendai for breakfast. The breakfast was very good and diverse.
The room was really cosy and the bathroom was shining. It is really close to the biggest station which is really convenient !
They have lots of ammenity in self service !
They can keep your luggage on the day before and after your stay which is really convenient.
The hotel is located close to Sendai station where you can get the metro, local JR trains and Shinkansen. The staff was great and spoke well enough English. The hotel and the room were clean and fairly new. We appreciated that there was a desk in the room and enough sockets. The best part was certainly the breakfast, which included an amazingly big choice of Japanese delicacies.
The breakfast was very good, I enjoyed it. Also the fact, that you can actually get to the hotel from the Sendai station through a shortcut (without getting out to the street), is a big plus (especially when it's raining), although the way is not very intuitive. Having VOD in TV for free was also a plus.
This hotel is so new & modern.
Especially the computerised check in system & in-bed room smart control system are so cool.
Friendly staff with reasonable good service.
Location is very good too. Only 8 mins walk from Sendai JR station.
