The Old Rectory had everything I like - a lovely house, warm and spacious room, delightful and welcoming host, a dog, good breakfast, beautiful village, unusual church, rural location. And it is very good value.

The Old Rectory is an 18th Century house, and has been used in the BBC's 1995 Pride and Prejudice as Mr. Collins' Rectory. A walled garden surrounds the house and there is a small but interesting church next door. Teigh is just a hamlet, and very quiet, set in rural Rutland. Good for bicycling and walking, after an Aga cooked English breakfast. There is a drawing room with a log fire to relax in, and no TV. The bedrooms are en suite, one with bath and shower, and one with a shower only. Breakfast in the stone flagged dining room, with flexible times to suit guests.
Victoria has lived in the house since 1973, when she and her husband moved up from London with 2 small children. She started the Bed and Breakfast in 2008, after her children were married. Assisted now by her dog Jacko who really enjoys meeting guests.
Teigh is very small, and has no pub, but there are several good ones nearby. There are some beautiful houses to visit, as well as churches. Stamford is a delightful town and both Oakham and Uppingham are attractive and Melton Mowbray still has a very large cattle Market on Tuesdays. Rutland Water has sailing, fishing, and general watersports, as well as the bird watching centre. Walking and bicycling are safe and popular.
