FAQs about hotels in Nottingham

Legendary City of Robin Hood

Famous for its association with Robin Hood, Nottingham is in the very heart of England. The outlaw’s legend lives on, with many city streets and buildings named after him and his Merry Men. A Robin Hood statue sits at the foot of Nottingham Castle, on a small hill with historic pubs built into it. Also cut into the rock are visitable caves extending under the city.

The Old Market Square is the largest in the UK and becomes a city beach in the summer, with rides and a small pool. Permanent fixtures are the impressive Council House with its Exchange Arcade shops, and the several Nottingham hotels with parking in the surrounding area.

During the 19th century, Nottingham was an important lace-making center and many Victorian warehouses and buildings remain in the Lace Market area. Neighboring Hockley is home to the National Ice Center and independent shops, while the biggest shopping centers are Broadmarsh and the Victoria Center.

In the western suburbs, by Nottingham University, Wollaton Park surrounds an Elizabethan stately home, while east of Trent Bridge cricket ground is the National Water Sports Center in Holme Pierrepont. Sherwood Forest, Robin’s stomping ground, is near Mansfield, while East Midlands Airport is southwest of Long Eaton.

Initial walk from the train station to the town gave a bad impression but town centre was nice with some cheap pubs, found out the following day that there was a lot of excellent shopping and restaurants of all cuisines. If you play mini wargames this is the place to visit with a lot of other 'nerd' shops and an excellent tram system. Downside - lots of students and old drunks with Sheriff of Nottingham beards. Have to shout out to O'Neill's on the Market Square, charging points everywhere and a pint of Lager and a coke for £4.20 plus cans of Red Stripe although they were £4.20 each and they poured it into a glass (a bit wrong but I'll forgive them). The main reason for the visit was to go to Warhammer World, worth a visit and the Hot Wing Challenge gets you a nice badge!

We went 2 weeks before Christmas and it was exceptionally busy. There was an ice rink and Christmas market and the whole town was buzzing. Highly recommended for a weekend away but you need to reserve a table if you want to eat on a Saturday night

this was our second visit to the christmas market, sadly it was disapointing compared to last year. highly recommend BELLA ITALIA for a meal,( there is a reason it is hard to get a table ), slight wait for food but well worth the wait, staff are excellent. although we did not use it, there seems to be great transport links for getting about.

I love Nottingham, especially this time of year. The Christmas market to try the odd tipple and buy a present or two. The amazing array of shops around every corner, from big names to niche little places. It's easy to navigate, with buses, trams and the train station. Nottingham has history (Robin Hood), beautiful walks along the River Trent and Wollaton Park and it also boasts 1 and a bit football teams. A beautiful city with beautiful people. Ay up mi duck.
