FAQs about hotels in Nottingham

Legendary City of Robin Hood

Famous for its association with Robin Hood, Nottingham is in the very heart of England. The outlaw’s legend lives on, with many city streets and buildings named after him and his Merry Men. A Robin Hood statue sits at the foot of Nottingham Castle, on a small hill with historic pubs built into it. Also cut into the rock are visitable caves extending under the city.

The Old Market Square is the largest in the UK and becomes a city beach in the summer, with rides and a small pool. Permanent fixtures are the impressive Council House with its Exchange Arcade shops, and the several Nottingham hotels with parking in the surrounding area.

During the 19th century, Nottingham was an important lace-making centre and many Victorian warehouses and buildings remain in the Lace Market area. Neighbouring Hockley is home to the National Ice Centre and independent shops, while the biggest shopping centres are Broadmarsh and the Victoria Centre.

In the western suburbs, by Nottingham University, Wollaton Park surrounds an Elizabethan stately home, while east of Trent Bridge cricket ground is the National Water Sports Centre in Holme Pierrepont. Sherwood Forest, Robin’s stomping ground, is near Mansfield, while East Midlands Airport is south-west of Long Eaton.

A city with real historical significance a fantastic architecture compact an easy to get around. We had a fabulous meal at the Cosy Club which is a truly opulent place to eat and drink. The trip to Theatre Royal was memorable as well as a return to my University city campus 40 years after graduating there. A city full of memories but still gives new experiences.

An excellent place for nature lovers and history buffs.

An excellent place for nature lovers and history buffs. There are the Attenborough nature reserve, the Arboretum, Wollaton Hall and Park, and Sherwood Forest. Nottingham did a good job of preserving its historical artifacts and buildings. They are all within the city or half an hour drive away. What we enjoyed the most were the Arboretum in the city and Attenborough Nature reserve. The former is a great place for a picnic and the latter is great for bird watching. Shutterbugs will have a fantastic time. For history buffs, indulge yourself in three of the oldest pubs in England. They are all in Nottingham.

A very interesting city and easy to get around without using a car. There were many places to see within walking distance. A lot of history there. There are many restaurants and pubs to choose from and they offer good value for money. People were very friendly and helpful. A nice city for a break. You must visit the oldest pubs there. It is an experience not to be missed.

We didn’t visit the centre, but took our fold up bikes and visited parks local to the Jubilee campus. The area was great for cycling, really nice routes with lots of greenery, trees, flowers, so that you feel close to nature. Well done Nottingham!

Ample free parking at the hotel. Although not in the city centre, it was only short drive (£7 Uber) to get there for an event we were attending at the Motorpoint Arena. Standard modern HIE room for family of 4 (2 x double beds) which give enough space for a short trip.
