The big sky country of the Northumberland National Park is the backdrop to this remote, cosy cottage. Situated on the ancient historical monument of Brememium Roman Fort, an outpost of Hadrians Wall, it's a true rural retreat. The area is a designated Dark Sky Park making this an ideal off the beaten cottage track for stargazers or astronomers.
PUBS/RESTERAUNTS: The nearest pub (1.4 miles) know to the locals as the First and Last is so called because its the last pub in England when you travel north and the first pub in England as you travel from Scotland. The William de Percy (part of Le Petite Chateaux Wedding Venue), the Coach House and Otterburn Castle are all in Otterburn (5 miles) . West Woodburn (9 miles) has the Bay Horse. GROCERIES: Bring your groceries with you or have them delivered (Asda, Tesco or Morrisons). We have a small shop in Otterburn which is useful to top up supplies, otherwise there is a small Co-op in Bellingham (12 miles), in Hexham (28 miles) there is Waitrose, Tesco and Aldi, In Hawick (27 miles) there is a Morrisons, Sainsburys and Lidl and Kingstone Park (33miles) is a large Tesco Extra. PETROL STATIONS: Northumberland isn't kind to drivers low on petrol, be careful to fill up when you are out and about and stop at your last town before you arrive. Bellingham, Hexham, Hawick and Jedburgh have petrol, not 24hrs. Kingston ParkTesco has a 24hr station. A car is essential.
