This hotel is well established and long running and you feel it here. A warm and welcome feeling upon arrival persisted throughout our four day/three night stay. We had dinner twice in the main dining room which is more formal than the pub atmosphere around the bar. The food was delicious and the white table cloth service flawless. Breakfasts in the pub area—included in our rate—were also first rate and, again, with service to match. We’d make a point of staying here again.

Kelso is a interesting market town and a good place to use as a base for seeing much of the border region, particularly the eastern region. Many of the eating places we visited were "ordinary" and not great value for money, but that seems to be the norm in the region.

The hosts were really helpful.
The hosts were really helpful. We wanted an impromptu barbecue and they kindly facilitated this. The laundry area/ boot room was very spacious with plenty of room for wellies and wet weather gear, as well as drying and washing facilities.

We ate at The Cobbles and also The Cross Keys. We had a takeaway from the Chinese in Kelso. All Good and enjoyable.
Kelso is compact and all on the flat. We used it as a base to visit other places in the Borders.

The history is all within walking distance. it has enough going on but like all towns since COVID, there are hopes closed that may never open again. the bus is regular so you can relax and watch the very beautiful scenery while having visits to other towns.

It was a very nice apartment on two floors.
It was a very nice apartment on two floors. Steep stairs up to both floors but apart from that very nice indeed and would highly recommend. We were visiting my sister who lives up the street from the Bakehouse so the recommendations below are not applicable as it was Christmas and all was closed.
Room smelt very bad of dog urine, presumably from the soaked and dried into carpet. Asked to change rooms receptionist very defensive and unhelpful, lady manager called in and she was very helpful. This is a very run down hotel and the rooms / carpets not very clean. Wouldn’t recommend, poor value.
The location was excellent, the staff were very friendly and attentive. The a great selection and options for breakfast all of them were freshly prepared to an excellent standard. There was a really relaxed friendly vibe in the hotel bar in the evenings.
The hotel was spotless, the room was comfy and well decorated, the garden was lovely and the outdoor spa was amazing. It was definitely worth the money. The food in the restaurant was delicious and the breakfast buffet was perfect.
