Beautiful hotel and gardens in a gorgeous setting. Service was top notch and staff very friendly and welcoming. The quality of the food exceeded my expectations. Dining room staff were very attentive and the menu was very varied. Excellent chef and kitchen staff. Will definitely visit again.
The bedroom and bathroom were very tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. The hotel's interiors and exteriors, including the gardens were meticulously maintained.
In the center of Alnwick, this 300-year-old coaching inn is a short walk from Alnwick Castle and Gardens. Its restaurant’s decor was salvaged from the Titanic’s sister ship. Free parking is available....

Cute little room. Only complaint was the room was cold despite the radiator being on full blast, but it's an old property and a throw blanket was on top of the bed so we managed. Staff-less interaction but very smooth and quick response to checkout query to the same number that texted us with check-in instructions. Overall a pleasant stay, fit for purpose.
The average price per night for a 3-star hotel in Alnwick this weekend is $137 or, for a 4-star hotel, $238. Looking for something even fancier? 5-star hotels in Alnwick for this weekend cost around $420 per night, on average (based on Booking.com prices).
I have been to Alnwick before but my companion hadn't.
I have been to Alnwick before but my companion hadn't. It's very pretty with lots to see. Highlights were Alnmouth beach and Barter Books, plus dinner at the Oaks Hotel. Going in winter meant it was much quieter than usual, which was a bonus, and it didn't rain.

Alnwick is a great place to stay.
Alnwick is a great place to stay. There are lots of things to see and do in Alnwick - the castle, the gardens, beautiful walks, coffee shops, pubs and more. Other places are easily accessible by public transport or car. Seahorse, Bamburgh, Whitley Bay are just a couple of places that we visited. Hadrian’s Wall path isn’t too far to get to either and there are many small towns/villages to visit along the way. The people in Alnwick were so welcoming and friendly. Three places in particular that we loved were the Tanners Arms, the Fleece Inn and Harry’s Bar. What a friendly bunch of people there are in Alnwick! We loved it. We ate in Yan’s Cantonese restaurant which was fab and catered for vegans and the Olympic restaurant in the White Swan which was a special meal and felt like a step back in time.

Have visited Alnwick many times before, it feels like stepping back in time with lots of independent traditional shops, really friendly locals. At Christmas lovely lights and a jolly Christmas feel. Go and sit in Barter Books and watch the train set and enjoy the fire, you won't leave empty handed. A shout out for the nice charity shops and for some of the great local bars. Very dog-friendly. Still not been to the castle though as difficult with a dog. Pop down to the coast which is so near at Alnmouth and a very dog-friendly beach. Best beach in England - possibly?

Although the majority of the places we wanted to visit were closed. We enjoyed our walk around Cragside and the other places we visited. We will visit Alnwick again but before the end of October as most places are shut beginning of November. But overall we both enjoyed the break and will visit again.

Lovely market town with fab quaint independent shops and chain stores. Easy to get around the town. Worth popping into The Black Swan for their steak and ale pie.
The castle is stunning even from the outside when not in Alnwick during the castle’s opening dates.

A great stay and very convenient for a night on the way home from a few days' holiday in Northumberland. Superb breakfast, very friendly host and clear instructions. I appreciated being able to check in after midday (notified on the day this was possible and fitted well with my plans). The room was well equipped with everything I needed including fresh milk in the mini fridge ready for a cup of tea on arrival! The recommendation of nearby restaurants was very helpful - I had a lovely meal at Mumbai Flavours in the centre of Alnwick.
A pleasant, good value guest house, centrally located in Alnwick, close to all amenities. Jo was a good host, welcoming, and advised on nearby places for meals, especially for breakfasts, as none provided by Castle Gate guest house, but I was aware of that, prior to my stay. Would stay there again.
Very friendly staff. Wonderful evening meals. Super central location. Comfy bed. Convenient parking behind the hotel. Brilliant little micro-pub directly opposite. Highly recommend as a place to stay for a visit to Alnwick
