Location was breath-taking, the restaurant made the most incredible croissant I have ever had, and Thomas filled up my water for me many times for free which was lovely. The staff was kind and helpful with directions. I felt very safe and had truly the most incredible visit to Como.

Set in Lecco, 23 km from Villa Melzi Gardens, Lecco Hostel & Rooms offers accommodation with a garden, private parking, a shared lounge and a restaurant. Location: 15-20 min uphill walk from the train station. It's best to have a car. Parking at their garage is 5 euros per night, but I found free public parking behind. Room: large and clean. Very comfortable. It has everything you would need. There is someone who cleans the room each day, but they don't make your beds, which is to be expected. Bathroom: cleaned every day, bright-lit and spacious. Space: Lots of space on the ground floor with tables and chairs. Breakfast: Great, but no hot food. Buffet style of cold cuts and cheese, with bread, fruits, yogurt, etc. The coffee is from the restaurant/bar section, and freshly made. Each morning I had one espresso and one cappuccino. They were delicious! A welcome drink was a nice touch.

Set in Suello and within 17 km of Circolo Golf Villa d'Este, Cornizzolo bed breakfast has a shared lounge, non-smoking rooms, and free WiFi throughout the property. Amazing place!! Super friendly owner, clean place, beautiful spot, amazing common room - perfect!

Lake Como Hostel is located just 50 metres from the shores of the beautiful Lake Como. It offers a terrace, a garden, a restaurant and a free beach access. WiFi in public areas is free. The location is amazing! It is a 5 minute walk to the ferry terminal and less than 10 minutes walk to the main square! The view is incredible and you can walk directly across the road and down some steps to swim in the lake. The restaurant is very good and very cheap with a spectacular view! Easy 15 minute ferry ride to Varenna and 20 to Belaggio. For location and view, this is the best value for money I have found in Italy so far. I wish I had been able to stay longer.

Kitchen was FREEZING! Needs windows or walls. Need privacy drapes on dorm rooms. Too open to outside.
